I was going through and doing the released AP Calc AB free response problems on APCentral, and I noticed that the methods that I did some of the problems were different than the methods of the AP scoring guidelines. Both methods were correct, since our answers were the same. My question is, since some of the points go towards setting up an integral or providing the correct limits of integration, do you get points off if you do a problem a different way? For example, in a "find the area of an enclosed region on a graph" problem, someone can do the problem either with respect to dx or dy - the two methods will have different limits of integration.

As long as the mathematics is correct, you’ll get the credit. They don’t care whether you use bog standard techniques or graduate level mathematics as long as it’s correct. The only issue might be if you do something wrong along the way - it’ll be harder to give partial credit. However you will have absolutely no problems for situations like the one you provided as an example.
