Anthropology BA w/ a minor in a science ?

I am an “undecided” freshman studying at The University of Georgia. UGA offers a B.A. in Anthropology but I am more interested in a B.S. So, I was wondering if I pick up extra math and science classes by perhaps minoring in Public Health or Biology, then would I be better prepared for a masters in Public Health? I’ve always wondered if it was a little futile to have a minor, but is it a good way to make the Anthropology degree more science-based?

A minor in a math or science field (or just extra math and science courses) complements studies in the various subfields of anthropology. It’s also a good way to improve one’s employment prospects if one doesn’t go to graduate or professional school.
Since you’re planning to do a master’s in public health, I’d suggest not doing your undergrad minor in PH, too. Biology (general biology, microbiology) is good for this purpose. Other fields to consider: environmental sciences (incl. chemistry, toxicology/environmental chemistry); nutrition; statistics; animal science. It depends on what area of PH interests you. You might even be able to do a a double major.
