<p>I am a college student with a PC laptop; for many years, I have been using Norton 360 program, but I feel like I want to change the antivirus program because Norton kind of slowed my laptop down. What kind of antivirus program + firewall system do you recommend and why?</p>
<p>There are free options out there like AVG and Avast. I have been using Avast on my computer with no problems. Also, check if your university offers free anti-virus software to students. Mine does.</p>
<p>Ubuntu is one of the best antidotes to the worst virus called Windows and it is free! Once infected, the computer will begin to run to slower, run out of memory and you will be forced to buy a new one in two or three years. Unfortunately most computers come with this virus pre-installed and you have to pay for it. 
Once you install Ubuntu or similar antidote everything will run faster and the computer will have a prolonged virus-free life. :)</p>
