Antsy to leave HS?

I’m a sophmore in HS and recently out of no where I’ve had a really big interest in graduating and getting to go to college (hopefully!). I live in a small town where everyone’s families are friends and there’s default groups of people who hang out so moving here was no good because I’m not a “local” (I’ll just side note that it’s in the South) and I feel because I’m biracial that also has something to do with it?(I’m still considered African American)
I have a single parent- my mom- and a younger brother which has sort of become my responsibility. I don’t feel like I’m better than any of my peers I just feel like I’ve been forced into maturity at a younger age and no one gets that… I just want to be able to actually live my own life… I want to go to college pretty far from where I live- oregon, Washington, Minnesota- my reach school is UPenn. Biology major.
I wanted to know if anybody had any type of advice or input that could help put me at ease? Is this normal? Has anyone experienced this? It feels like recently the days have gotten so slow and when we did registration for junior year I was beyond excited and some of my friends thought it was weird…

I think a person’s generally antsy when they’re not as busy as they can be. Getting involved more and doing work can actually make the time go by fast.

Surprise, college is a fun experience in which one greatly expands their horizons, especially if they are from small town “bubbaviles”

You’re not alone kid. I’ve been like that since the 8th grade
BUT use your time left most efficiently. Get your crap together, read lots of books, develop your interests and all while you have ample free time

Hey, same here! I am a junior wishing that I could graduate already. But, that feeling started sophomore year for me as well! I just felt like everything was so pointless and am impatient to go out and make something of my life. I live in a suburb where I moved in so I don’t have any childhood friends here, either. I just can’t wait to get to a city (Seattle!) and live the busy life.
Haha, I was excited when I signed up for junior classes last year too! Junior year is considered the “last” year, so I thought it would give me some push to finish strong.
