anxious man:ucla, cal berk, dartmouth, pomona, stanford... can i possibly qualify???

yes ok......... i know im not that impressive resumewise but I need to satisfy my concerns and extinguish this anxiety of mine (temporarily)..........

-SAT: 730 verbal, 540 math
-cofounder and VP of language club
-active (as opposed to inactive) member of school honor society (CSF:California Scholarship Federation) since 9th grade
-GPA: 3.86 (if someone could explain the "weighted/unweighted" concept to me please...)
-I was in EAOP (early academic outreach program) for University of California until it was shut down due to budget cuts
-I'm in my school's service organization
-I'm in a community college choir
-I volunteer at my local library every saturday
-both of my parents dropped out of college (that can be good or bad)
-I take 7th period psychology, and over the summer i took two community college classes
-I'm gonna take my SAT II's very soon...... (i'll update my stats with them)
-I also have a learning disability (Nonverbal Learning Disorder or NLD) which seriously impairs my mathmatical/logical/spatial crap but somehow propels my verbal and rote memory skills (this can explain my scores for the SAT, in which I had no testing accomodations[i'm not complaining; I didn't ask for any])
-yes I'vnt entered any competitions, but I would like to know if there are any essay-writing or literature/history competitions available

Thank you for giving me a chance to vent my anxieties for better or worse......

PS: Do the colleges that send you mail after the PSAT actually see your scores if you specify that the information can be made public???

also forgot to mention:

-im a whitey
-dual american/french citizenship

and ill probably remember someother stuff later

Personne? Anyone??? A rough estimate perhaps????

I think you may have a chance at UCLA or Cal. Pomona likes high math scores, sorry, and you're way out of range for Dartmouth and Stanford.

A good essay contest is the Ayn Rand Essay... Google it. There's also the Shakespeare Fellowship essay. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

No, the schools don't see your scores. They just get a mailing list of people whose scores fall into a certain range.

Thank you!

what do u mean ure gonna take your tests soon? the last test date for ucs was in dec....

strachbrach:

UCLA: Reach
UCB: Reach
Dartmouth: Super Reach
Pomona: Reach
Stanford: Super Reach

Thank you again!

hmmmm........ i was expecting these responses........

all i really want is a good UC to go to so I can do well there and get into a great grad school, where it really counts......

my prime example here is my brother's friend at UCSB, who went on to get an MBA at Yale......... and a great job

so, if i at least have a chance at getting into Cal Berk or UCLA (or maybe even UCI) than i'm reasonably cool

If anyone has any comments, do please post them..............
