I posted about being accepted a few days ago but didn't put down all stats:

Male; OOS; UW GPA-3.9 (rigorous independent school in NW); ACT 33 SS; 32 (oct)/31 (sep)
UP campus; fall admission; COE

Possible reasons why acceptance occurred w/in 7 days of application:

OOS tuition brings more $$
Geographic diversity
Visited COE this summer and met with head of department
Filled out all optional EC information on application form
Marked that would be applying for SHC; perhaps they felt compelled to let me know asap
Random dumb luck

Other possible reason why you were admitted:

YOU'RE WAY ABOVE THE AVERAGE APPLICANT!!! Not that Penn State isn't a good school, but with stats like yours, you could reach for Ivy's and the like.

Okay, did anyone hear today????? Congrats to all those who were accepted. One other question I have is: do you think if you put down "a popular major", it is harder to be accepted if you're in the 50% range????

It said that they recieved my application. But they wanted my transcript after this semester is over. My GPA is a 3.56 right now and I know its gonna go higer cause I'm doing well. On the bottom it said for future references you PSU ID number is 9blahblahblah. Penn State is playing games with me. I also talked to a counselor in admissions and she said that UP wants a certain number of credits to be considered so I think maybe they want to see my grades and that I have more credits. Right now I'm taking 12. My total number of credits so far is 27.

it seems as mainly engineering, and/or business has gotten in. has anyone gotten in who applied for college of arts and sciences, or communictions. cause i applied as communication major in august and still have yet to here

psualum, undecided is a major where you go in just that, undecided haha you go into the division of undergraduate studies where you take a bunch of classes and discuss with counselors whats right for you. it's actually a really great program they have.

i want to do journalism/communications but i figured applying undecided would possibly up my chances because i'm sure they only take the best of the best for each decided major ya know? and by the way..wasn't sure if that was a real question when you asked what undecided was psualum haha considering your user name....but i thought i'd answer anyway in case anyone else was unsure how it worked :)

haha okay mkc2100 by the way things are looking we will probably hear about the same time

this is just horrible, i live in nyc and i went to one of the Penn State seminars that was held, this afternoon i recieved a packet from penn and i started freaking out, i ripped it open just to realize it was just a thank you for coming to the seminar, accompanied with a borshure

this is the second time this happened to me! waiting for a reply from penn state is going to be the death of me! lol

For those who applied to Smeal. How did you indicate you were applying there?
For me I put that I was doing a 4 year program and then I wanted to do finance..
I didnt see an option to put down Smeal

It didn't seem too clear to me at first, but then I looked at the website and got it.
I realized that under it i put that I want to go to to UP first choice. I didn't see that before.
