<p>I talked to a few people that went to Penn State and they said that admissions first weeds out people who won't make UP and sends their profile to the branch campuses, so that's probably why people are hearing from other campuses but few are hearing from UP. And I put Berks as my alternate campus but I got accepted to UP so I don't think they automatically slot you for your alternate campus unless it's clear you won't get into UP</p>
<p>They consider you for your first choice - first. It doesn't sound right with a 3.9 that he wasn't accepted. What were his SAT's & did he take a rigorous course load? Perhaps UP was his second choice.</p>

<p>and wow i can't believe a 3.9 and great SAT's were rejected. there must have been a big red flag somewhere because that simply does not make sense. at all.</p>
<p>walcott, i'm assuming that you're in pending your grades. if they're asking for your transcript again after this semester then i think you're borderline and basically in but only if they see youre not slacking off and are doing well this year so far. i've heard of people getting into great schools, slacking off all year, then being deferred because they're grades slipped so much. so perhaps that's what they're deciding to do with you. what exactly did the letter say?</p>
<p>also, a counselor from PSU who visited my school said that they work their way in with the applicants. those who are shoo-ins to penn state are accepted first and those who definitely don't have the credentials get sent to branch campuses. then they start deciding on the middle range people. so i guess if you haven't heard yet you're still in the running!</p>

<p>I think the person who was asked for a transcript was a sophomore at a community college - so that is why they asked.</p>

<p>i think its random for everyone. some people might check it after they get their letter and see its there. meaning it couldve been posted before they got the letter but they just didnt check it. so who knows? just keep checking online and the mail i suppose</p>
<p>this waiting sucks, does it matter what major youve chosen at this stage in the game??? i feel like they might just be looking at straight stats within the remaining applicants</p>
