Any Acceptances Yet??

Gibson:Your SAT's are a little on the low side for UP and as you pointed out you applied for a pretty popular major so that may have edged you out of the pool. No worries going to a branch though, you would be taking the same classes there that you would at UP for your first 2 years as a Bio major.

Accepted a month ago with 600 CR, 750 Math, 760 Writing, 12 Essay.
GPA= 4.0 / 5.4

hey do you guys know on the acceptance letter if it says your not accepted for fall, that you are accepted into summer at UP????

psuhopefull, your acceptance letter will say something like "congratualtions on being accepted to penn state university for the fall (or summer) semester at University Park (or a different campus) so yes, it will tell you if you were accepted to summer

yeah if you didnt make fall they'll say something like "we cannot offer you fall admission, but we are pleased to offer you admission to our summer semester..." etc

i still haven't heard yet... but i think i am going to get summer session... 3.6 gpa 1830 SATs (combined is a 1910 but PSU doesn't combine for some odd reason)

any other thoughts?
when does summer session people usually hear back?

I'm a nervous wreck for my son. He applied to Smeal back in Sept. and still hasn't heard.
His GPA is 3.85 and his SAT's are 1940. He only want to go to UP and I'm hoping we didn't make a mistake by not putting summer session down. Any thoughts on his chances????

He will get in no problem. I expect Smeal to be inundated with apps right now and are taking time to work through them all.

cwryan1: please tell me you work in admissions LOL

cw - I don't think you should tell people they will get in - refer them to the bubble chart. You told someone before they would get in and to apply to honors college & they were denied. I am not trying to be rude - but don't give false hope.

That being said - PSU, your son has excellent stats. It looks like he is a blue dot, but Smeal is very competitive. If you are worried you made a mistake about summer session, call admissions and ask them their advice about changing. Also, they have so many more applicants this year, so perhaps that would increase his chances.

My daughter got in. Never got any mail about it....just checked my penn state this morning. It says a letter will arrive shortly but that she is in!

petpal: when did your daughter apply?

I just changed my intended major to humanities/foreign languages from music. That should help boost my chances; I have about a 96 average cumulatively for humanities courses.
