No i applied for Regular (Fall).

Ahh what the heck, I have a 33 ACT too and I've got nothing :( And my dad went there too! Haha, funny coincidence.

Wait did all you guys apply for the summer term or something?

I applied for Fall but I think I checked the box that said Summer was okay if they couldn't fit me in Fall.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard they have been sending out of state decisions before in-state ones. Again, could just be a silly rumor.

haha my dad went to PSU too! summer session probably would have given you a better shot , but i really don't know.

Oh man. If that's true, then there are going to be kids at my school that'll be a lottt more worried than I am if they don't get letters soon. Basically evvveryone in my classes applies to UP (I live in Altoona, so a lot of kids think 'getting away from home' means State College, haha), so if we all have to wait together it's going to be stressful, but if we all get our letters around the same time, it's gonna be an awesome couple of days.

i'm in state and i got my letter and so did a few of my friends so that's not true

I applied august 1st, had my transcripts in by mid-august and still haven't heard anything. My GPA is 3.75 and I got 1870 on my SATs and I'm in state. I was optimistic about getting in but now I'm getting really nervous because I haven't heard back from them...

Don't worry. I wouldn't be nervous with those scores. Well... I think no matter what our scores are, we're all a little nervous ;)

i think it all depends on the stats. those who are a shoo-in are hearing back and i think those of us on the border, like me, wont hear back til later :(

i applied summer with a 3.5 and a 1760 on my SAT's..and i'm in state. but i dont know i think im still borderline so who knows?? i had a friend who didnt hear til february and he had a 3.6 and a 1290 on the old SAT's..and his sister was going there currently. all his friends heard back in november but he didnt hear until february. so i mean it could be completely random, it might not be. ughh it's so stressful!

oh and ohsosimplexo, you're definitely in with those scores haha i think you're absolutely fine

My son has a 4.23 and 1720 on SAT's also instate. Applied first week in September w/ transcripts. He applied to Fall/Summer. My husband and I are alum and sister is there. No word yet. I wonder if the 1720 is holding him back from hearing now. Only 3 kids from his h.s. heard this week and they applied to Schreyers and were accepted to UP and told to reapply to Schreyers.

i feel like people who put summer session down are going to be accepted last.

i hope not i want to know by thanksgiving so i can apply to other schools...my 3.72 and 1510 on the SATs are getting me worried. SAts out of 2400 so not so good and im instate and checked summer..i just wanna know

for those who check off summer: i was told by admissions that you are evaluated for fall first and then summer if you don't meet the criteria for fall.

Hey all. Just a note that my nephew applied in Sept last year in state - with really good numbers - and didn't hear until late January (accepted). And they have even MORE applications this year.
From what we see, only the tippy top students (Schreyer level) hear early.
Prepare for late January - if you hear earlier than that, it will be a pleasant surprise. And always have a backup.

I've been browsing the PSU website and came across this information about "Receptions for students accepted at Penn State University Park":

"Penn State University Park hosts sessions for accepted students beginning February 2.These sessions are for students who received offers of admission to Penn State University Park. Your visit will include a presentation by the academic college to which you were accepted, lunch, a student panel, student aid information, a parent panel, and a campus tour.

If you have been accepted to Penn State University Park, you may log in to MyPennState to reserve your spot starting on approximately November 15. At that time, you can also view a quick-reference calendar to see what dates and sessions are available."

FYI, the quick-reference calendar says "no dates/sessions available."

Just more information for all of us waiting to hear...

Several of my d's friends have been accepted to UP. They are all outstanding students. No word for my d who has good grades (3.8 uw, 4.99w), good class rank (top 10 uw, top 19 w) but below average SAT's. She is dying but it may be a while till she hears. Her friends all had similar grades but higher SAT's and are probably shoe-ins. She checked off summer session if that helps at all.

Do you find out online or only through mail?

so does PSU typically put the Scheyer applications on a fast track? i haven't submitted my Scheyer's application yet, but i will probably by this weekend or next (procrastination kills me).

i think i'm a pretty good candidate for Schreyers (2200 SAT/4.2 GPA/top 10%) and i'm OOS (MD). does that mean i should get a decision much sooner? i applied for regular admission a week ago, BTW.

edit: and i checked do NOT consider me for the summer
