mmm summer271 is right...we should all post in another thread, as this thread probably is not approriate for the drinking thing...

I will agree to disagree, but I must comment that being told I am horribly misguided with the arrogant touch that comes with being addressed as "young man" is highly undesirable Plainsman...state your opinion without the arrogance please

I was wondering how long it took everyone to receive their letters? I applied right after Winter Break and wasn't expecting a decision until March, but found out earlier.
A few of my friends applied around the same time and are still waiting... Is it completely random?

Well, I handed my online app on 1st Feb. But I sent my transcript (along with other supp information) in the middle of December. Maybe that's why?

But my stats are not that great. I'll PM them to you. :)

Sillyworld, whats your deal? Accepted after 10 days, after priority deadline, with mediocre stats? No offense, but you had to have something unusual to be accepted like that. I looked at some of your posts, and I saw that your international or something, that must be why you were accepted. Ppl got rejected with stats like yours who applied early. you sure you weren't accepted to another campus?

plainsman, you can be as old as you like and if you don't show respect, you don't get respect. that's how it works in my book anyway, and i assume it's going to be the same for jarad.

"plainsman, you can be as old as you like and if you don't show respect, you don't get respect. that's how it works in my book anyway, and i assume it's going to be the same for jarad." - Faytal

I get that, Faytal. What you might not understand is that there was nothing disrespectful in my post to JaradW. What we may have here is a clear generation gap as to what constitutes respect and what doesn't. And that may not be something that can be resolved by an exchange of posts.

Let me give you an example of a generation gap in communications. Perhaps you saw last year the video of a Florida traffic cop beating the tar out of a kid who was skateboarding in a restricted area. The reason the cop became so ****ed off is because the kid kept calling him "dude," as in "Dude, chill out." Each time he called the officer "dude" the guy went berserk and kept screaming at the kid "don't call me 'dude!'" Now, to that teenager's generation, referriing to someone as "dude" is not considered some kind of insult, but to the officer's generation it was an insult. He considered it disrespectful and not just because he was some kind of traffic cop, but because he was old enough to be the kid's father. In no way did I agree with the officer's actions. Let's get that straight. He went way overboard. But his outrage illustrates my point. There was a generation gap in how the respective parties heard certain words.

I merely referred to JaradW as "young man." For someone from my generation, I was showing him respect. Disrespect would've been to call him "boy" or "teenybopper" or "kid." If you or Jaradw are in high school or college, you are YOUNG, especially compared to me. If JaradW is a male then he's also a man, is he not? So referring to someone as "young man" is mighty traditional and where I come from, not at all disrespectful.

wow i cant believe this discussion is still going on lol...i havent been on here to post in a week or so and i saw my name in plansman's post to my surprise...anyway, i agree plainsman has been nothing but respectful, infromative, and even comedic at times...

on a different note...SCHREYERS!!!!!!!!! where are you????????

"Dear Anthony,
we have completed our review of your application. While we are unable to offer you admission to the University Park campus,we would like you to consider admission to another Penn State Campus"

letter received today from the mail

does this mean im accepted to Penn State? They sent me a form for me to fill out other choices, I put Harrisburg and Erie

Branch Campuses are the campuses of Penn State other than University Park that are situated around the state of PA. Most students go 2 years to a Branch and then transfer to University Park. Good luck with your decision!

i just visited yesterday and i fell in love, the amount of school pride on this campus (UP) is unbelievable and the downtown area thats built literally right across the street from the campus has everything you would ever need.

if anyone has some questions i will be willing to help :)

I agree, my Dad was a graduate in '39, my sister a gratuate in '72, I graduated in '80, my brother in '81 my nephew in '06, my nieces in '02. '03 and '08 and my daughter starts in the fall of '09. Something must be right about the place!
