Any Acceptances Yet??

Yay!!!!! I was accepted for engineering @ UP! I just checked today on the online application status check and the decision was there (finally...)!

OOS-international

Waitlisted
31 ACT
3.6 UW
OOS

^How come? 31 is pretty good.

Mm, so given my current choices, I think that if I'm not accepted to a free trip to Ecuador that DePauw University is offering me this summer, I'm headed to Penn State on June 28th. I'm pretty thrilled, I always sort of knew I'd end up there.

Skullduggery: Ecuador? Do you have family there? Otherwise, you can't be willing to be "bought" for that trip. You won't be missing much. Go to Happy Valley.

Chronicological: Did you get someone on the admissions committee mad at you? Something you said on the app? Which college did you apply to? Engineering?

Decision: Accepted! - Chemistry

Stats:

* GPA: UW 3.98, W 4.20
* SAT I (by section): Didn't send since my ACT was higher
* SAT IIs: Haven't sent yet
* ACT: 31, M 33, E 29, R 31, S 31, W 8
* APs: My tests were horrendous...I probably won't send them.
* Rank: 10/360
* Other stats: Although my WGPA was not high, this was due to the few number of AP and honors math and science course available. I took every AP course available except for foreign languages and AP USH.

Subjective:

* ECs listed on app: Robotics Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honors Society, Beta Club, International Club, Book Club, Chamber Music Club, Young Libertarians
* Job/Work Experience: None
* Essays (subject and responses): Didn't really work on them as hard as I did for other schools
* Teacher Recs: Pretty good, written by my amazing senior English teacher.
* Counselor Rec: Decent.
* Applied on: Jan. 1
* Hook (if any): I'm not sure...Taiwanese from Oklahoma maybe?

Location/Person:

* State or Country: Oklahoma
* School Type, Average Stats of School (if available): Public, sends some students to top schools

Nope, just Penn State UP, good essays ( I think, I'm usually pretty good about those), pretty good ECs (4-5 activities with leadership roles and over 5 years or more in each of them), all AP classes this year and straight A midterms, my only hook really is being from South Dakota. It's probably that I applied later. I didn't realize I really wanted to go to PSU until after Christmas. Oh well, guess I'm not going.

Plainsman -- it's not that I have family there, or are willing to be bought; it's just a great opportunity that they're offering, because I have been trying to find a way to do a foreign exchange there for a long, long time. More than that, I do like DePauw, it's tied with Penn State (which is a really odd combo, I know). I'm having real difficulty deciding between the two, especially since the $10,000 scholarship DePauw is offering makes the two the same price for me (OOS), so it'll come down to financial aid and/or Ecuador...but I still have to visit DePauw, too.

Chronicological,

I wouldn't give up hope just yet. Your stats are great! It's just the whole applying late that is kind of a killer. I was accepted with the same GPA and lower stats. I am also OOS but I applied before the priority Nov 30th date.

I am withdrawing my admission because I will be attending another university and I'm sure there will be many others who make the same decision as I do. You are more than likely to get our spots. Especially with a test score like that. Good Luck!

Dunno if i posted that I got in or not already. In for smeal.

Weird that they waitlisted me, but NYU-Stern accepted me RD.

^Did you happen to apply after the priority deadline?

Crap. They offered me a really bad package. I’d be more than $100k in debt by graduation if I were to go. =[

DePauw is not worth it.
