Any advice for Physics?

Okay, so right now I'm in Physics. So far we've taken two tests--and I've gotten sixties on both. This makes me sound like a student who doesn't understand the subject at all, but that's not the case--I get 100's on all of the daily homework assignments, and I get the subject well enough to be able to explain it to other people.

I don't have bad test anxiety at all. I've gone into both tests feeling very confident. I usually know when I've bombed something immediately after I've taken it, but that's never been the case for these tests--in fact, I felt like I'd gotten high A's after I'd turned them in. Which is why I'm so confused as to why I'm getting 60's. An 80 would be excusable--but a 60?? I honestly do not get what is going on.

Is this typical? Is anybody else going through something similar? Any advice at all?

I’ve never felt confident about a test that I subsequently did poorly on - I usually can sense right away that things aren’t going to go well as I’m taking the test. But anyways, this seems like something you should bring up with your Physics teacher - like you should explain that you need some type of help regarding application of the content on tests.

Talk to your teacher to find out why you’re getting such bad grades? Is it silly mistakes? Using the wrong equation? Not understanding concept? Seek tutoring…for reinforcement go to khan academy. It is the greatest resource alive for education.

I had this exact same problem with algebra 2 (“analysis and functions”)…I’d understand the concepts easily and ace all the quizes, but strangely bomb the tests.

Are you checking your work realllyyy carefully (without running out of time)?
Are you studying/taking practice tests/questions under time constraints?
Are you just making lots of silly mistakes?
Does your teacher hate you?

ask to go over the tests with your teacher.

are the hw and questions you go over in class anything like the tests? if not, then ask for practice test questions from your teacher.

in my case, the physics problems in our notes and hw were so different from the tests, i just needed to acclimate myself better to the test type questions.

and if your teacher doesn’t award partial credit, especially since it’s a physics class, then that could be a problem, too.
