Hi, I was wonderingg if biology is considered an impacted major at UCLA because I read something about it being harder to get into as a biology major since so many people try to transfer into that major.

If anyone has any experience transferring from another UC or a CC to UCLA as a biology major please feel free to post!

I'm still debating on whether to attend a CC w/TAP program and transfer in as a bio major or attend UCI and make an attempt to transfer to UCLA as a bio major. I know that there is a higher rate of admission for CC transfers but I'm jsut worried I won't get in the second time and I wasted my time when I could have gone to UCI.

UCI= No dorming for me since I live relatively close there; stability; no need to worry as much about transferring
UCLA= dream school.

Nope, got accepted to UCLA/UCSD after a year in community college, taking a bunch of classes at UCSD.

Even for me, UCLA isn't a clear choice, because I live near UCSD, and those some twenty-thousand dollars for housing and additional expenses is something I'd have to seriously consider. And the smog. :L

DO NOT come to uci. it sucks and your gpa will be low, classes here are so freaking hard. i came from high school being ranked top 5 percent of my class with 4.2 weighted gpa and 3.9 gpa unweighted and now at uci i'm struggling to have good grades. i am applying to ucla in fall o8 but i would have to say that going to uci is probably the worse decision i ever made because now my chances of getting into ucla(dream school) is very low. community college classes are cake. i have took community college classes when i was in high school and aced them all but uc classes are not even in the same area. i didn't get into ucla at first because my writing sat score was super low compared to the avg. overall my advise to you is to go to cc and do tap and keep gpa as close as possible to 4.0. then getting into bio is much easier whereas if you come to uci, most likely your gpa will be lower and your chances of getting into ucla are very low since you are coming from another uc. i just thought you should know how uci classes are; i know because i am life science major. good luck with your decision. shouldn't be that hard to make.
