Any advice?? Help me, please!!!!

The Stanford website says i wouldn’t be in disadvantage but, is that true? lol

Wow your stats o.O If you can write a very compelling story about how living in a low income single parent home has affected your life I’d say your chances are high. You need a math2 and science SAT2 to apply to MIT. I don’t know how universities handle out of the country people, so it may harm or help you. The fact that you clearly can’t pay full tuition will hurt though so I suggest a lot more safeties as you are competitive but definitely not a first choice because of your income. Try some private liberal art colleges andtop 50 schools for safeties. GL

Thank you very much Wendeli, i am planning to take the math II and physics tests, i don’t know when tough.

All opinions are welcome!

Any other opinion?

I need advice, please!

Marcelo,

You’ve gotten many responses from people stating that you have good chances. I’m going to give you some advice that might seem depressing.

The schools that you have listed accept a really small number of students. For international applicants, the situation is much much worse. Getting into the schools you listed (as an international applicant) means that you’re one of the best in the world.

I’m not trying to be harsh, but I don’t think you will make the cut. For example, to get into MIT or Harvard as an international, you literally need to be the best of the best (ex. international awards, etc.). While you would be a very good applicant domestically, I don’t think you would stand out in the international pool. However, I could be wrong.

If you want to have the best shot, apply ED to Cornell (I’m not exactly sure if they let internationals apply early). That’s my advice.

Good luck!

I don’t think your SAT is high enough to be considered “Competitive” in any sense. Furthermore, you never included how many volunteer hours you had, hopefully you had at least 200 to be considered “competitive”. At least your class ranking isn’t bad though, but your lacking in nearly every other category. MIT only accepts the best of the best kid not the laziest of the laziest. You might want to shoot for something a little lower than MIT, like maybe the University of Florida or something like that. You would probably get into the University of Georgia to if you wrote good enough essays.

Emc2Fma, thank you very much for your honesty, it is better to know this now and stop having unrealistic expectations. I’ll reconsider my options, although all universities are reaches for me because of the international fin aid, so i will also reconsider whether is worth applying to school in the US because it is expensive and i don’t have money to waste. Thanks.
fchris13, i know you are a ■■■■■ so i wont spend a lot of time responding your input, i’ve seen that you post similar comments in many threads you even take the time to slightly modify the content. Sad. Go do something productive.

Marcelo I don’t know how your International status affects admissions but you’ve got great stats man. You’ve got a shot in my opinion for all of these.

Thank you Darthpwner.

are you applying as an international applicant? or are you illegal? (i’m not trying to be racist, this is just a question. i know people who have been through a similar situation)

earlygrad123, i’m applying as an international, I currently live in Peru. Thanks.

My friend last year was undocumented living in California, and he got really poor financial aid, so I think that might be a problem but your stats are excellent.

Well, i’m not undocumented but i agree with you, fin aid is going to be a major problem  where did your friend get into? Thanks for the input

My friend got into Georgetown and he had good stats too.

Hi can you all give me some advise on my chances

Darthpwner, wow how lucky, i’d love to go to Georgetown.
roymacron, yes or something very similar to 3.9.
psyke29, okay :)
