<p>I'm asking for honest opinions because this is my only chance to go to college, I am aware that these top schools receive thousands of applications from outstanding students around the world, I understand that they are HUGE reaches and that my posibilities are very small but maybe someone knows in which school or schools I have a better chance, considering my background and stats.</p>

Very, very basic science and english courses in HS so i prepared for all these tests on my own with Princeton review books provided by Fulbright.</p>
<p>This is the rest of my info:
- Rank 1/40
- Founder of the science club
- President of the school
- National Youth Science Camp peruvian delegate 2009
- Captain of the soccer team(i believe i can play for the college team)
- Inter-militaryschool boxing champion (sophomore, junior and senior year)
- Regional Youth Councelor Avanzada Catolica (Catholic group).
- Medical assistant for 30 months.
- First generation high school graduate and college student(hopefully).
- A lot of community service including 5 trips to poorest areas of my country bringing food, clothes and medical care (each trip 2-5 weeks long)
-18/20 GPA.
-Half orphan(Single mother raised me)
AP's and Honor Classes not available.
- Awarded with Fulbright's opportunity scholarship(it'll pay most of my expenses)
Work experience:
- Construction worker for 2 years(after hs)
- Peer tutor since I was 12(this was actually a job because i got paid to do it, i think some people in the US do it for free, not the case)
- Basic science and math private tutor for 2 years(after hs)
- Family annual income: < $6000
-Essays will be good(will mention my background and will be edited by couple of friends attending top universities)</p>
<p>I am planning to major in Biochemistry, what are my chances?? please be honest. Thanks in advance for your time.</p>

<p>While I have no objections to your current list, I hope it’s not the complete list of schools you intend to apply to. These schools are all significant reaches for an international student. If your goal is simply to go to college in the US, then, as I mentioned a few months ago, I think you should consider applying to good schools that are slightly less prestigious than the ones you have identified. Here are some other possibilities:</p>
<p>Skidmore
Trinity College in Hartford, Ct. (fee automatically waived for international students)
Gettsyburg (fee automatically waived for international students)
Bates (free application for international applicants)
St. Lawrence University (fee automatically waived for international students)
Colgate (fee waived for international students with addresses outside the US; website says you should check “other fee waiver request” on the Common Application)
College of Wooster–offers two full scholarships for international students
Berea–free for one student from each country</p>
<p>In addition, have you contacted the University of Alabama–Huntsville to see if you would qualify for the full scholarship given to students with a 1490-1600 on the CR and Math sections of the SAT and a high GPA? If it’s open to international students in your situation, and it’s not too late, I think you should apply (it says you have to apply directly from high school, so I’m not sure what that means). <p>Why are you taking the act? And why did you take the sat ii Spanish? I think the school will know you are proficient or better in Spanish since you are an international from Peru.</p>
<p>I’m taking the act because i’ve been told that some people do dramatically better in this test, so i want to try(Fulbright payed for the test, so why not?) About the Spanish subject test, well i’m not planning to send it and honestly i took as an extra test(i had already taken the 2 subject tests required by the schools i’m applying)Also, since my country has one the lowest reading comprehension scores of all South America, according to study conducted by UN, i wanted to show the schools that i know my language well. Thanks for your response.</p>

<p>Haha, Vassar and Middlebury are small LAC’s that are not very famous but they do have strong science programs. I know my ethnicity is going to help me a lot lol. How lucky, i bet Stanford has a very beautiful campus. Thank you very much for your words, i’d be very lucky if i get into even one of the schools of my list.</p>
<p>Haha yeah it’s my top school, i have a couple of friends attending Stanford and they couldn’t say enough good things about it! they told me the enviroment and classes are amazing, i’d do anything to go there haha.</p>

<p>I think you have a good shot at Middlebury, and I’d say Vassar is a match I think you have a good chance at the “a stretch for anyone” schools, like Harvard and Stanford, only you clearly know as well as anyone else that these schools are really just luck of the draw. So good luck-you’ll clearly do well wherever you go!</p>

<p>Harvard: Reach for pretty much anyone. Your ethnicity helps your chances, though.
