Any applicants/interested students have questions?

How about the gay community at Syracuse? Are there a large amount of gay students at SU and are they accepted by the student body?

“I know that they require 2 of them, but do they require it to be from teachers that teach 2 different subjects. Like i have to get one from math/science and English? Am i allowed to do them both with English teachers?”

It doesn’t matter what subject they teach. As long as the two recommendors you pick know you best and can say alot about you. You don’t want to pick someone who doesn’t know you that well or someone who can’t think of positive things about you.

The best recommendors are those with a combination of:

1) Teachers who you earned an A in their class
2) Teahers who know your strength and weaknesses and can formulate a way in which X college can work on it for you
3) Employers who can point out why you would be good for X college or X program within that college.

etc…

“Sorry. 6th in graduate. 39th in undergrad.”

Ok let’s get this straightened out. Whitman is 38th in the country according to USNWR. It’s Entreprenuership program is ranked 6th in the country overall. Whitman isn’t ranked tier at all in graduate rankings. Got it?

“How about the gay community at Syracuse? Are there a large amount of gay students at SU and are they accepted by the student body?”

SU is one of the most gay-friendly colleges out there. We are a one of a few colleges in the country that has a LGBTQ studies as a minor and I believe possibly as a major. We also have an LGBTQ resource center on campus for students who need advice, have problems or just wants to come and chill. And there is a fraternity that caters to LGBTQ students but njot exclusive to them Hope that answers your question.

Hey I’m from Pakistan and applying to Syracuse,
my sister transferred from SAIC and got in, this is her first year.
I have a 3.0 and a 1890 sat score. 600 CR and Writing, and 690 math
SatII’s weren’t good, Math 1 was a 730 but physics was a 570 (i took it for my ED college which required it, i’m not even good at physics)
I have loads of extracurricular that revolve around children in poverty over here. I raised money to send 50 children to school for a whole year, paying for their books and everything. I have good recommendations and even letters of recognition and praise from the community service groups I worked with. I’ve made two documentaries. One won a national competition for a news station and was broadcasted. I’m really into film and I really want to go to Syracuse with my sister. What are my chances? I’m also looking into International Relations as well and have done MUN for the past three years and am currently the Ambassador for my delegation.

yoo house of london chill out lol why r u getting worked up over rankings? I made a mistake. Besides, isn’t this where ppl ask ME 4 questions?

JJac, people take these things seriously (include non-registered users that are browsing through) and i would advice you to not mislead people with numbers. Not hard feelings I’m totally calm.

So I was wondering about when Syracuse notifies students concerning scholarships. I applied ED and got accepted and received a letter from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships and it said I qualified for a loan but it didn’t mention whether or not I qualified a scholarship. Does this mean I am not getting a merit scholarship or will they send a separate letter telling me if I will receive a scholarship.

Well (House of London), you certainly write your comments that way, so it’s kinda hard to think otherwise. Yes I made a mistake. Okay here , people looking to go into Wittman: Its great, the whole school is great honestly. Im not just saying that because I love college, Syracuse is great and besides the season tix situation, I wouldn’t change a thing. Stangstrong: Idk the exact date but I know it’s after you get accepted (at least that’s when I got it) Im sure if House of London doesn’t have the exact date for you, it should be on either the schools’ website or a collegeboard.com type of website.

I don’t necessarily care about the exact date they notify you about a scholarship. I was just wondering if they notified you about scholarships the same time they notify you about financial aid or at a different time.

hey notify yuo on scholarships the same time they notify you on admission.

They would say something, for example, along the lines of Dear Xyz, you have been admitted to the college of arts & sciences as a Coronat Scholar… (e.g.)

I have a question about the financial documents, (I’m an international applicant) is it required that the documents have to be send before the posted deadline? If so, can I send it through fax or email? Or I can only send it via air mail in hard copies?

Posted deadline for what? Admissions?
