Any better chances?

Is there a higher chance of getting into UF if you do a summer program there like their Summer Journalism Institute?

Nope, no better chances at all. 3 of my friends did the program, but none of them got in. All 3 had pretty decent grades, too.

Thank you! @arrozconleche‌ (that’s my fav dessert by the way!)

Having gone doesn’t improve your chances. However, if you spend 2 or 3+ years working on your school newspaper, yearbook, etc, that does look like a solid EC. Doing the CIC summer institute (or some similiar at another college) would add to that EC.

But really, only do it because it’s something you would find fun and want to learn.

It would also give you a chance to spend a few days on campus, meet some professors and such, which will make it easier for you to decide to accept or decline an offer from UF. If you’re a competitive freshman candidate at UF, you’re also a competitive candidate at several other great schools.
