I know its unlikely but I was just wondering whether or not anyone has found any student loans or grants from the British government available for students wanting to study abroad? I seem to hit dead ends every time I search :/

Thanks!

No such animal, unfortunately. You’re hitting dead ends because there aren’t any.

Ah, I thought that might be the case. Thanks for confirming!

You can use federal Stafford loans for study abroad costs as long as the program is approved by your home U.S. school.

The UK is engaged in some serious budget cutting. I doubt they have funds for not Brits.

I am British student - they just don’t fund anyone going to study outside of Europe.

I’ll check out the Stafford loans, thanks :)

I don’t think a citizen of the UK is eligible for federally funded U.S. Stafford loans. To be eligible for these, I believe you must be a permanent U.S. resident OR a U.S. Citizen. Someone who isn’t one of these cannot complete a FAFSA form which is what is used when disbursal of Stafford loans is considered.

That’s one of those nifty pieces of information I know but conveniently forget XD Thanks for the reminder laksjdlaks

What does this mean?

This “laksjdlaks”? It’s a keysmash. It doesn’t really mean anything specific, generally just a way of expressing emotion (surprise/annoyance/amusement) - you smash the keys to convey a sudden emotion, yeah? Like “I’m so stressed alskdjaslkdsjad” :)

Yeah, sorry, I thought (assumed :o) that you were an American looking to study abroad in Britain… otherwise I wouldn’t have mentioned Staffords.

It’s all good, it was an easy mistake to make! But no, I’m definitely a Brit XD
