Any Bulgarians Applying this year??

My daughter's roommate at Duke is from Bulgaria! She, too, came from a school in Sofia, I think.

I'm glad we made it to the second page of this thread:)

Mariela, each one of them is GREAT!!! (maybe E-sh is not SO great, but I would definitely pick the other 3). It must be such a pleasure to go to these classes... at Yale!!!

parentofteen, does your D know how many Bulgarians there are in Duke? I'm asking because Duke will probably survive the final cutoff and stay on my list till application.

Hey,guys! I'm from Bulgaria, too. If i guessed correctly, that specific Sofia high school some of you mentioned might as well be my beloved one...or not?

jhudora, what's your school?

American College of Sofia

what do u think of the yesterday SATs ?!?
any predictions ?

The CR was terrible!!! The Math sections were alright... maybe, though I keep wondering which was the experimental one. On the W I'll get a 700-800. I was sleepy, I was not concentrated and the sun rays never stopped appearing and disappearing from my desk every 2minutes making me put on and off my jacket. Grrr! Anyway, I'll make sure I fall asleep early on 11/04 and I'll study hard this month, I promise :)

Did you do well?

oops... I mean 12/03 - that's when I'm retaking the SAT I. This totally ruined my plans :(

I can't agree more with u for the CR . it was really really hard (especially the passage for Cecille). I hope the curve is lenient because otherwise i'm dead :) As far as the math section is concerned i dunno but i my carelessness might have ruined me...
we'll see

It took me so much time to realize that Cecyl was a man, not a woman! :)

what do u think about the passage with that crazy actress lol :)

:))),

I don't know how many Bulgarians there are at Duke, but my daughter's roommate is definitely one of several. She often gets together with the others to celebrate birthdays. Also, Duke takes any interested internationals shopping to area department stores ("a Target run") one Saturday per month since they do not have cars with them. I have often thought that was a nice gesture.

And, yes, she attended the American College of Sofia. It sounds very impressive!

parentofteen, it is impressive:) Impressively tough, actually.

jhudora,
if u r studying at the American college in Sofia, please give my kind regards to Cveti Djuvinova (if u know her ofcourse) thanks :)

There were six Bulgarians admitted to Harvard last year from 5 different schools in Bulgaria - very impressive!

Bulgaria power :)))

Yes, I know Cveti, though she's not in my class.

Just a question...why do we always have to measure excellence by means of the "Harvard" factor? 6 BGs got into Harvard. True, that's awesome. But how about all the others who also got into amazing schools? No offence to anyone, but I think it's high time people here (i mean in BG) realized it's not THE only great college out there...

'Harvard is Harvard' - 1695
u can't compare it with anything else...

Ha! The perfect example of the stereotype I'm talking about:)

no, i'm not stereotyped at all,
but Harvard is after all one of the oldest schools not only in America, but in the world as well....
