Any Bulgarians Applying this year??

duke, cornell or JHU, carnegie mellon, NYU, tufts, emory, vassar, colgate, eckerd, Uflorida... and that's about it:) I was wondering about UTAustin as well.
and U?

that's a great list :)
i'm still wondering where to apply :(

btw what r ur stats (sats and stuff) ?

My sats are a little low for a Bulgarian kid, especially math:(
1380 (690M, 680CR)+710W, 790 on 1C and 780 spanish w listening, 297TOEFL. I don't wanna go on talking about my ecs... I'm kinda proud of my satIIs and the toefl, I hope they can make up for the math score. I still have no essays though :) But I'm keepin it cool, I know my chances at duke or cornell are lottery luck.
so what about you and your stats? you probably have a slight idea where you wanna study, you've been around CC for some time. I think I've seen you post chances threads:)

:) u have awesome SAT II's. I took the SAT I for second time in November (650CR,800M/690W) and I'm taking both the Maths and the world history this saturday and hope for sth high...
btw do u know Martina Bozadjieva ? she's studying at FLS too ?

800M? bravo!
yeah, I know marti, she's from StZ, right? she's just awesome, very good girl. I think she's going for Harvard. I hope she gets there, she really deserves it. I think there's another girl from her class that's also from your town, her name's Eli. you know her?
wish you luck on your tests;)

thanks dude,
good luck with ur applications too. yeah I know eli
give them my best regards, i'm sure they will remember me :)

Hi! I am from Bulgaria, too. To tell you the truth I don't have many chances but I am an optimist for my future. I study at the Mathematical High School in Pazardjik and a private student at the English Language School there.I am ashamed by all of you here - so smart and ambitious. Hope to be admitted in Brandeis University.:)

Well I study in pmg too so I don't like the language stuff and consequently got low scores on sat reasoning. Therefore I am going to apply to some UK colleges. Is anybody else going to apply to such colleges???

One more Bulgarian here!:))Churalska,I am in the same situation like you-don't have many chances of getting into my top choices (actually getting into ANY of them),but I am an optimist like you!:)I am expecting my SAT 1 scores on 19th....so nervous about them...Is anyone hoping that can get into a uni like Brown or Colby with as low an SAT score as 1700-1800?

I am too nervous. My teacher in English told me that if I don't score over 700 pt. on the Math Section they won't give me a financial aid. :( Actually, I expect much lower. It was harder than the CR...
By the way I rely also on awards from national competitions. ;)My SAT scores won't be high.

I don't think your teacher is right at all.SATs are surely not the most important thing in one's application..and if you have awards from national competitions, then why should worry about SATs so much?!:)
Buhi, how are you going to finance your education in the UK?I know that UK colleges do rarelly give fin aid(if they do at all).Last year I was thinking abt studying in UK but I found no possibilities for financial assistence,so I gave up:(

oops...assistAnce,not assistEnce...:)

I have heard the same about UK colleges. I was in contact with English students and they say that the colleges are too expensive for overseas students and don't give fin aid...

Yeah, I'm applying to US colleges but there will always be a place for London in my heart;)

Well, the financial situation is kind of comlicated in UK.First it's definatelly not true that they don't give fin aide and full rides as a friend of mine was given a full ride last year in such a college.Actually from this year the fees are to increase to about 3000 pounds a year BUT you don't have to pay it until u start working for atleast 15000 pounds a year. The real problem is our membership in the EU cause as a citizen of a country within the EU u don't have to pay the oversea fee of about 10000 pound a year.
Honestly,I don't think that I'll succeed in geting in a UK university, but I think that it's really "interesting" experience so if u like troubles u can try to get in a UK college.

Hey guys:)

How are you all sending your school reports and teacher recs? Using DHL is very expensive if you send to the USA (for me I think it would be like $600), so I have no idea what to do:(

well I'm using bulpost which is like the express alternative to BG snail mail;) I haven't done my "logistical" homework yet, though so ask so who's sent ED. I hope they work on new year's day and are safe enough:p DHL is too fking expensive for what I know too :(
what are the exact costs btw?

I think it's like $60 per package but if you send to Germany or to AUBG it's much much less. But I'll check out bulpost. Thanx!:)

Btw, did anyone apply ED/EA anywhere? Did you get in?

Guys I know it sounds stupid but...oh yes another "what's my chance" question. So I'm form Gabrovo,Bulgaria and my "gpa" is 5.7 out of 6.The fu***** problem is the sat score. My Sat R scores are Math 650,Critical 470 and Writing 480.I know what u are thinking but I'm not a moron I just hadn't got the time to learn for the stupid tests. On the other hand my Sat 2 scores are not that bad,yet low-math level 2 750 and Physics 790.So i was wondering is there any sence of applying to cornell or other top school.
p.s. computer science

If you have good ECs, write great essays and do your best on the application, why not give it a try? You don't lose anything! Plus, you have a hook - your CR and W scores;)
