<p>Hey there CC, I applied early to Northeastern a couple of weeks ago and am anxious to know if I have any shot at getting into the University Scholars Program (Full Tuition).</p>

Rest are all honors</p>

<p>Just a guess but I’d say you have a chance. I seem to recall during the International Village tour I went on, the tour guide said about 200 honors students started at NEU in 2011. (Keep in mind that many more are <em>accepted</em> to NEU, but this many enrolled - again, assuming I heard the guide correctly.) So if there are 50 recipients of that scholarship in 2012, out of 200 total honors students, then that’s a pretty decent percentage chance. Although, maybe they will offer 50 scholarships among all accepted honors students, and if those students don’t enroll, then they don’t re-offer them to alternate people. If that’s the case, then the chances are much lower for each individual applicant.</p>

I am a first year student at Northeastern in the University Scholars program. Last year, there were 150 students invited into the program and 42 of us enrolled. If you get in, it is an absolutely amazing program! Besides the full tuition scholarship, there are many incredible opportunities the program does for its students. You have excellent grades and I would say you have a great shot at getting into the Honors program. As for the University Scholars program, it is less about just great grades and instead based on something cool you’ve done so far. We have students in the program who started their own companies and who raised thousands of dollars for charities. We also have students who have published scientific research and students who excel at multiple different fields. While your grades will probably put you in the running, I can’t exactly say whether or not you will get into the program since it isn’t just based on grades. There are a lot of people in the Honors program who had higher test scores and grades than I did, but who didn’t get into the University Schoalrs program.</p>
<p>I agree with lulu above. You will probably get into honors and get a deans scholarship ($10-20,000 a year) but I don’t think you will get the University Scholars. This program appears to be for kids with a hook of some kind - also I think they are looking for a very diverse group as well. </p>

<p>If you were national merit finalist you would get full tuition for that.</p>
<p>Honestly, thats exactly what i was thinking too. Oh well, full ride to RU it is most likely, is it possible to get multiple dean’s scholarships? ;p</p>
<p>Would I have a chance of getting the university scholars program? I lived in india for part of elementary and 2 years of highschool did first aid vollunteering for a slum, the “Walk for Life” In New Delhi, a low income girls school, and went on an operation smile mission with 2 other friends. I have done a lot of other community service as well. I went to the american embassy school in New Delhi and wrote for the school newspaper and became computer honors society president. Also my un-weighed grade average is 92 or 93% with 7 IB classes and 3 AP classes and a 31 ACT. Northeastern is my first choice but my parents don’t want me to go unless I get some kind of financial aid, and I dont think my scores would qualify for the honors program If it helps I want to major in computer science/game design</p>
<p>The honors program and University Scholars program are very similar. Scholars get all the perks of being in honors (live in IV, honors welcome week, etc) as well as more perks such as faculty mentors, University Scholars dinner and discussion sessions with faculty members and fun group activities.</p>
<p>However, in order to qualify for the University Scholars program, you must be part of the honors program.</p>
