Any chance at out of state?

Im currently a junior in H.S., my freshman year i slacked off and got a 2.75 gpa, sophomore year I had a 3.0 gpa, and through the first semester of this year I have a 4.1 gpa. During freshman year I took 1 honors class, sophomore year I took 2 honors, and this year I am taking 2 APs and 1 honors. In October of 2009 I scored a 26 on my ACT and an 8 on the writing section (I am taking it again in March in hopes to improve to 28+). I play football, run track, and participate in several clubs if that matters. I come from a upper middle class family and will be able to afford out of state tuitions without a major scholarship.

Anyway here is a list of schools, in no particular order, I am considering. (Keep in mind I live in Tennessee.) Do I have a shot at any of the out of state schools?

Schools I believe I will have little trouble getting accepted into:
University of Tennessee: Knoxville
Middle Tennessee State University
University of Memphis

These are my first choices, but I am not sure if I would be accepted:
Depaul University
University of Maryland: College Park
University of North Carolina: Chapel Hill
University of Washington: Seattle
University of California: Santa Barbara
Penn State University
University of Oregon
University of Hawaii: Manoa

These are longshots that I may or may not even consider applying to:
Georgetown University
St. John's University

Hey! you’re applying for UNC-Chapel Hill, that’s near where I live

Anyways, you might have a little trouble getting into UNC, but I have a friend who has the same stats as yours and she got into Penn State! Based on the info you gave, I’d say you have good chances at your 3 safe schools, Penn State, UCSB, UO, and UH. I’m not familiar with University of Maryland, and UW-Seattle might be a reach.

Good luck!!!

Thanks! I’m pretty confident that I will increase my ACT scores to at least 28 composite, so hopefully that will help.
