I am a current sophomore. Freshman year was not great. Ended with a 3.6 GPA. On a upward trend now and looking at ending with 4.0 GPA.
Do i have any hope at UVA or have i screwed up my chances.
Your admission to UVA will depend on a lot more than just your GPA. Read through relevant threads on this forum and also the UVA website to understand the qualities and accomplishments they desire.
Got accepted to UVa last week. My UW GPA (4.0 scale)
Freshman: 3.1
Sophomore: 3.9
Junior: 3.35
Senior: 3.5 (Honor Roll)
There is SO MUCH MORE to you than grades. Trust me. Be passionate. Write well. Engage. Also: show an upward trend. I Pulled myself out of my sophomore year dip to achieve honor roll in senior year.
Your GPA is meaningless without context. It’s your school’s attempt to summarize the work that’s on your transcript.
We are far more concerned with the courses your select and their grades. Of course, there is a relationship between those things at GPA, but remember that two students at your school could have identical GPAs with different trends on the transcript.
