Any chance whatsoever?

I'd really love to attend Chapel Hill. My major will most likely be biology. Although, I'm not sure I'm competitive. Do I even have a chance as an OOS applicant?

GPA : 3.66 (uw - school doesn't weight)
SAT : 1580 (550M/530CR/500W) - Will retake
Rank : Within Top 40% of class.
I've taken a college course for 3 credits; my GPA was a 3.00.

I realize my stats aren't that great. My GPA shows a definite upward trend, and I have taken the most advanced curriculum available to me at my school. I am retaking the SAT in october; my most recent practice test scores show a 1200 M/CR, 1860 overall. I hope to raise my scores a bit higher, though.

Extracurriculers include 120+ hours of volunteer work (some at homeless shelter), Chess Club, Liturgy Club, and altar serving. I've job shadowed a pharmacist and a doctor. I have had a part-time job my Soph - Senior years.

If I've let anything out or if you need more information please let me know.

Do I stand a chance of being admitted? What can I do at this point to increase my chances? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SAT has to go up.

SAT way too low, even for an in-state kid, I'd say

Thanks for the replies! What SAT score do I need to be competitive with other applicants?

if you look on collegeboard there's the average SAT scores. I'd say for out of state you may want to look at the upper end of those averages, just to be safe (if you think you can raise it, I haven't looked at that in a long time)

Thanks, schmivy. You've been a great help! :)
