I have fallen in love with ConnColl. Until recently I was a poor student. I felt I knew what was being taught so doing the homework was a waste of my time. My test grades were fabulous but my homework grade brought the average down. Here I am now a senior. I have realized (too late) that homework does matter. This year my GPA is a 3.75. My previous years average out to a 2.11, but it has gone up each year. My SATs were a 2150 (760 Math, 740 English, 650 Writing). I attend the top public school in Boston so admissions knows my school is hard. Do I stand a chance?

I am currently a junior at Connecticut College and was in the same boat as you three years ago. I had good SAT scores but my GPA sucked since I really slacked off and favored my social life over academics in high school.

Beware this is a country club kind of school, there are a lot of snobby kids with lots of money and fancy prep school educations (I am in fact one of them -snobby part).

Recommendation: GET AN INTERVIEW, you can explain how you matured throughout your time in high school to shed some light on your less than stellar GPA.

So I know that Conn is definitely more of a northern school and both of you said that you came from more fancy prep schools.

I go to a really preppy school, but it is in Alabama. Do you think that people are too “snobby” to accept a southerner?

I’m sorry that sounds pretty stupid!!! I was just wondering though- right now there is only one student in the whole school from Alabama
