Any classes that are jokes?

So, are any of the supposedly 'hard/honors' classes at your schools total jokes?

Like, at my school, the science classes are all terrible. You can basically scribble random words on worksheets and get full credit. This wouldn't be so bad if there were other classes available, but none of the science classes at my school are serious at all.

Honors English, Criminal Justice, and Contemporary Issues = biggest jokes ever.
My English teacher just doesn’t give af lol. Sometimes she’ll only teach for 3 minutes, then just… leave.

The English department at my school used to be good. But, 3 out 4 teachers have moved or retired over 2 years, so it’s probably headed in the same direction as the Science department.

AP Human Geography is a joke at my school, along with AP Psych, AP Environmental Science, and AP Lit (mainly because my teacher spent the last 6 months running Dance Marathon and then left because she is moving, so she didn’t care less about us. LOL)

IBBM SL and AP Stats

Honors English 9 and Pre-AP World Civ 9 are ridiculously bad. The Honors English class is supposed to tie in with the history curriculum, so we ~were~ meant to read ancient literature, but so far we’ve just watched the movie adaptations and read short stories from kids’ magazines. Ugh.

For World Geography, my teacher spent the entire class teaching Black history. Literally.

Physical Education
I mean
yes

and “Advanced” English classes in freshman year
I mean challenging vocabulary is not “include” or “enter”
…

HELL YEAH! My Creative Writing class is SUCH A JOKE! I’m really passionate about writing, specifically screenwriting. Anyways I thought it might be a good idea to take a Creative Writing course at my school. How wrong was I. The teacher is a *. She doesn’t understand the first thing about writing. For goodness sake she isn’t even certified to be teaching the class (I personally got a school letter that told me that :() I’m by far one of the best writers in that class (not bragging just saying :)), and do you want to know what I have, a 69! Why? Because she’s a terrible grader. She would gladly give someone who wrote 5 pages of pure bull an A, but someone who takes the time to actually write 2 passionate pages about a movie commentary will get an F. Not to mention she hands us lame prompts to write literally novellas that are basically your 5th grade narrative prompts, just a lot more pointless.

SHE IS A COMPLETE MORON!

/end rant :)

Basically all the English classes except for AP Lit, which is what I’m taking next year (thank god) and PE/Health

To me, some of the classes are jokes, but others find them hard, and I find some classes relatively challenging while others breeze through them.

I suppose that means the classes are the proper difficulty.

Neurobiology, Medical Diagnosis, Anthropology, Nutrition, and Electronics are all “grade boosters” at my school LOL

how the hell do you have medical diagnosis in highschool .

anyway , health and gym . i couldve taken the health midterm on the first day of school and still wouldve gotten 100

AP Human Geography. The teacher literally taught physical geography or read straight out of the book and was then shocked when I was the first and only five in the history of my school.

AP Eng Lang is such a joke. It’s pretty much my morning nap. The teacher doesn’t do squat. Pretty sure I got a 5 on the AP though.

anatomy + physiology is a joke at my school. Love the teacher, she is so sweet and kind, but she just assumes that we get the information, and allows kids to talk over her. So we basically go into class preparing for nothing. She gives people the answers to tests if they ask nonchalantly, and just runs through the information like she’s reviewing.

AP LANG. I annotated far more in the 6th grade. My teacher is far too lenient in grades and due dates, probably because it’s his first year teaching HS. I think he did pretty well covering essays though, just the whole reading books… not so much.

I have a test on Cry The Beloved Country and no one has read it (including me, the first time this year I haven’t). I was going to but then my teacher actually gave us all the answers to the test… before we take it tomorrow. uhh

The opposite of this thread = APES. I have done so much work in that class it ain’t funny. The material isn’t challenging, just the workload.

Science dept is a joke at my school, along with half of the Spanish dept.

My Mandarin teacher teaches all of the Mandarin classes: Mandarin 1, Mandarin 2 Honors, Mandarin 3 Honors, and Mandarin 4 Honors.

They are all honors classes because everyone gets A’s. The teacher is literally the easiest grader on earth. She uses the study guide she gives us as the test, and she uses our final study guide as the final. So literally all you have to do is memorize the answers on the study guide and you get 100%. The guys in my class don’t study at all and have learned no Mandarin whatsoever and they still have A’s. During tests they ask the teacher a question and she basically gives them the answer, so they feel like studying is a waste of time. I’m the only one in my class who actually works for my A and is completely honest with my teacher. If I don’t know something, I won’t ask her for the answer, even if it costs me a few points. But I’m just so upset that it’s pretty much impossible to get a bad grade in the class because I’m afraid that colleges will think that the class has no worth. Not only that, but I love the language a lot and I want to be able to learn it from a teacher who actually knows how to teach instead of just handing out free A’s. I’m very close to my Mandarin teacher, but I’m almost at the point where I wish a new teacher would take her place so that we can actually learn something and I can see those idiot boys actually work for their grade. :/

My Chemistry teacher seems to love me because I’m dating her favorite student. Literally if my boyfriend doesn’t come to class one day she will start to cry. And on our lab practical last semester I completely forgot about it (d’oh…) and had to BS the entire thing. On one station if we did the lab right she would give us a stamp, but she didn’t stamp mine so I knew I completely messed up. I ended up with a 100% on the entire thing and I knew nothing! On my tests I’ve never gotten lower than an A- (even when I thought I failed) since I started dating my boyfriend, while last semester I got B+'s. And then my friend who is extremely smart and studies way harder than me got C’s and B’s. But then she joined me and my boyfriend’s lab group and her grade has been raised to a B+. It’s kind of funny. But I love my Chemistry teacher and I’m going to work to get into AP Physics B for senior year, even though my boyfriend would have graduated by then. We’ll see how I do with him gone. :P

History is pretty annoying too. All we do is watch documentaries, so I pretty much nap all day. Then we are forced to take notes on a chapter in our textbook. Sometimes we have open note quizzes, but 75% of the time these notes are all pointless and a waste of paper/time.

My whole school is a joke.
