Any current students accepted to Cal was rejected at UCLA??

my brother got rejected from UCLA yesterday, he’s pretty sad lols

dunno why mechrocket, but i think your post if pretty hilarious

Ok guys, Berkeley tour guide here. Just to help put this rumor to rest, we have had Walter Robinson, director of undergraduate admissions, come into our staff meetings and tell us directly that NEITHER geography NOR UCLA admit status have any affect whatsoever on your chances at Berkeley. Sorry. No magic involved. (And for the record, I didn’t get into UCLA but did get into Berkeley. Worked out marvelously. )

I know some people who are in your situation.
Just wait till the 24th, good luck, hope to see you here.

i got the borderline one too i think, 14 questions right
im hoping for at least davis, and hopefully berkeley
most people i know are going to davis so I’m still not sure which UC i would pick if I had to choose

yea i do hope everyone here gets into their dream school

I got rejected from UCLA, but i recieved a supplement from UC Berkeley last year too.
Later I got rejected from UCB.
I end up in UCSD.
UCLA doesn’t care about GPA or SAT. ONLY EC COUNTS - SCHOOL GOVERMENT.

@mech: why didn’t u coach your lil bro?

Would somebody be kind enough as to post up their stats if they got accepted to Cal but rejected from UCLA? I think that might give a lot of people hope!

yea im curious as well^^^

Cal is the least stats oriented, believe it or not, as it is the most holistic in the sense that an admissions counselor at Stanford once explained to me - “we are not looking to admit the most balanced individual students, but to compose the most balanced and interesting class of incoming students” - thus some with high stats bypassed for those with substantially lower obvious qualifications, but it met some need of the admissions committee including having a good mix of creative, different and complementary people, who together will expand their horizons and grow far beyond what those in a more homogeneous, high-achiever-only or high-test-scorer-only campus will experience. in contrast, UCLA seems to look for a more balanced high performance on all dimensions, for each and every candidate, and the other campii have more fixed, inflexible algorithms to determine admission.

Thanks for all the great answers

bluecow- yeah i got that one to, also i got into davis already becasue of elc and am waiting now for berkeley.
i so nervous now becasue i think that i could have put more on my supplement

I know quite a few people in my HS. UCLA has some wacko judgment, in my opinion.

-high fives everyone-

don’t worry too much, what will come will come.
