Any current students accepted to Cal was rejected at UCLA??

i was recently rejected at UCLA with i would say very decent stats
just wondering if any of the current students in Cal was rejected at UCLA

I know several people who were in that same situation last year. It’s definitely not uncommon.

yep .

I was rejected from UCLA and accepted at Cal.

Think I remember people asking that question last year and it appeared that it wasn’t that uncommon of a trend.

raises hand

I think UCLA is more numbers-based, mainly in GPA. They have 10-15k more applications than Berkeley and somehow send out decisions weeks earlier.

eats yogurt park yep.

UCLA demands that you be well-rounded to great extents. They will reject a 2100+ SAT high GPA student if their ECs are not great. Cal will take one of those guys easily as long they at least have ECs. Cal doesn’t mind if you are greater in one of the two as long as the other one is acceptable. UCLA will reject you if even one of them isn’t good

(in my message great is better than good is better than acceptable)

What about getting into UCLA but rejected from Berkeley (obviously those people wouldn’t be on this forum, but maybe people’s friends had this happen to them)?

^@ Berkeleyhopeful: eats spiked yogurt park and spins in circles yep. I have 3 friends who go to UCLA but got rejected to Cal. they are now happily studying in engineering, econ, and psych over there and say it’s a good fit for them. they’re both good schools and at the end of the day if you’re a good and motivated student you can accomplish a lot regardless of whether you go to Cal or UCLA. good luck.

Are these people all in-state? Or are there OOS in this situation as well?

Over the last several years I’ve heard from many students who were rejected from UCLA and admitted to Cal. Generally these students have very strong extracurriculars/leadership but may not be the top-tier academic performers.

I got rejected from UCLA, but i recieved a supplement from UC Berkeley. What are my chances of getting into berkeley?

i was accepted into UCLA but rejected from Cal. Both schools are in the same tier for undergraduate, so its not uncommon.

I got rejected from UCLA and got a supplement from UCB too

Sister’s best friend is currently at Cal and was rejected from UCLA

bluecow- what type of supplement did you get?
and im hoping that i have a better chance to get into berkeley with the supplement

“Over the last several years I’ve heard from many students who were rejected from UCLA and admitted to Cal. Generally these students have very strong extracurriculars/leadership but may not be the top-tier academic performers.”

I really hope this is true.

bluecow, what type of supplement did you get. i got the borderline one. also i hope we both get into berkeley, that will be great…

so is it a bad sign that i did not get a supplement?..
