No chance at Berkeley..

Just got my rejection from UCLA while all my friends got in..

I know that nobody knows the results for now.. but I don't know..

I honestly thought I had a chance!

SAT I: 2250
SAT II: 800/790/750
GPA: 4.24W

Great recs, great extracurricular, hook (family disasters)

What do you guys think?
Should I keep my fingers crossed? o_o;;;

Don’t worry, quite a number people who are accepted into Cal were rejected from UCLA.

i didn’t get into ucla and got into Cal. good luck.

i also didnt get into ucla, but does it mean tat im not going to get into berkeley?
my only weakness is test scores =[…

crowslayer91, can you post ur stats?

Honestly the selection process has to be random as hell. I seriously submitted my application to Cal with the whole extra curricular page blank. Didn’t put a thing on there I swear. M SAT scores were pretty damn low 1600 and 1790 for SAT II. I am proof that the system is random.I was just applying for fun but I really wanted to go to an all girls school. I got into the all girls school but I ended up going to Cal because it was cheaper. Just don’t feel bad if you don’t get into Cal, it really isn’t the end of the world.

similar to OP’s stats. except i don’t think i had “great” ECs. Cal’s decision is rumored to be more heavily weighted on GPA/SAT scores anywa. *shrugs

good luck lost puppy. may you find your way home u____u

i think im tooo lost right now, it may take me a long time to find my way home

Hang in there. This will be over soon and you will end up at a university that is perfect for you. It all works out in the end. :-)

my scores are almost exactly like yours and i got rejected from ucla today… i’m really looking forward to my decision from berkeley but i’m losing hope :(

Don’t give up hope!

TheFreakedOut, I’m surprised - your stats are strong. I agree with TodayIs that the selection process must be somewhat random because they have SO many applicants - you might have legitimately just gotten really unlucky. :frowning:

Are you an out-of-state applicant? If so, admission to UCLA or Cal is extremely competitive - both schools show clear favoritism to in-states.

I’m from San Francisco. Although… my school is very competitive and the top 15% have 3.97+ unweighted GPAs… this means 40+ valedictorians. :/

However, I have a <3.85 UW GPA. Maybe that’s why…?
I thought my weighted was o-kay.

Yes, you definitely have a chance. Don’t sweat it! I know at least 5 people from my high school in my graduating class who were in the same boat as you (rejected from UCLA even though they had similar, or even less, stats than you did) but are now studying happily at Cal.

UCLA gets the most undergraduate applications in the USA. It has an acceptance rate of 19%. Just saying.
So dont lose hope, Berkeley stresses more on academics. You ll probably get in there.
