For those rejected from UCLA

Many people in the previous years have gotten rejected from LA, but accepeted to Cal.

Are you guys still pumped for Cal's admission decsions, or have you given up hope?

I have heard more often of rejects from UCLA getting spring admission at Cal. I'm not sure how much hope I have, really...

My school had a "curse" in recent years -- if you got accepted to UCLA, you weren't accepted to UCB, and vice versa. It proved shockingly true during my senior year -- lots of kids got into UCB, but only one got into UCLA (and he didn't get into UCB).

To be honest, I imagine it's true only to the extent that UCLA and UCB screen for different things. UCLA is much, much more interested in ECs; UCB is more interested in numbers. (Before this causes any outrage, note the comparative there, not the absolute.)

I still have hope for UCB.

Good for you Orien!

Still have hope. :)

I almost wish the "you get into either/or not both" was true so I'd know I'm in. Although that still wouldn't be certain...

I gave up. I thought my ECs WERE my strength, but apparently UCLA decided against me. So now UCB looks like a definite no. sigh..

same^ =(

actually i thought my essay was my strength

I've pretty much given up. I thought I'd get some sympathy since I'm first-generation and whatnot, but I guess not...

Does UCB put any more emphasis on SAT's over GPA than UCLA?

My S got rejected from UCLA with a 3.7/3.96 W GPA, with 2270 SAT's (CR 800, W 780 and M 690).

Moreover, he got all A's first semester, so now his GPA is 3.76/4.09, but neither UCLA nor UCB has asked for them.

my gpa's pretty weak. so while i got into USC for business, im bracing myself for a cal rejection

Does appying for the scholarship (Alumni and Dr. Ralph J. Bunche) affect UCLA's decision?

The tricks is to never lose hope, even when in line for death row.

Not necessarily; the UC's are pretty clear in that they value GPA over SAT; 4 years worth of work over 4 hours worth.

Best of luck, with stats like those he'll likely end up somewhere good!

I agree No Quarter and zwankie; I had thought my ec's were stronger than my grades. Too bad there's this whole talk about UCLA accepting people with lower grades and great ec's. :( JW Muller, that is almost my exact SAT score! My GPA is slightly higher. Haha rejected as well though, so that gets us nowhere...

See I'm worried about Berkeley wanting to see a higher math score... Don't they like sciencey/mathy people better than people with good critical reading scores?

I like how UCLA brought me back down from Cloud Nine. Now, getting rejected from Cal won't feel I got gutted.

I just hope they see my major improvement between sophomore year and junior year.

ucla out yet? just curious....

Dreamspace - UCLA decisions are out.

I am having no hope of getting into Cal after being rejected from GeorgiaTech and UCLA on the same day.

girl from my school was rejected from UCLA last year and got into either MIT or Harvard, and Berkeley.

As far as I know, it happens every year.
