Any debaters on College Confidential? Tips for a newbie?

I recently joined my school debate team, and I'm participating in the novice division for the Lincoln Douglas debate thing. I haven't been doing so hot though, and was hoping for maybe a couple of helpful pieces of evidence for this month's resolution. I'll post a really helpful article for the "Affirmation" side and all of that so it's not a one way trade.

Decriminalizing Drugs in Portugal a Success, Says Report - TIME

Now, someone give me something good for the "Negation" side so I can stop sucking.

I did debate in HS so I can give you some advice. However, I did Public Forum so I can’t help you too much.
Also, can you post the resolution.
Really overall you’ll just get better with practice. That’s probably the best piece of advice I can give you.

Always questions their sources. My partner made up a source once and wasn’t caught ha ha.

Ask as if you’re 100% right and your opponent is dumb and is completely wrong. Be flabbergasted that he/she would even suggest something.

Have strong contentions?

Speak loudly AND carry a big stick

Also, if you can tell us what comments you’ve received on your ballots we can probably better help you.

Is it a speech issue, a content issue or maybe cross x issue?

Keep hands out of pockets, points will be taken off.

And stay confident, never admit someone is right if your in that situation say “This maybe true however…”

Good luck

Protip: Be persuasive.
