Ok, so today in gym I was playing basketball and I tripped and fell and then I was shooting the ball and stuff and then my hand started to hurt. When I got home, I wrapped it in gaus. I've been putting ice on it and it stuff hurts really bad..

It hurts when I pick up stuff and when I make a fist and stuff like that. It's sort of like on the top of my hand between my wrist and my fingers, and it's in the middle/right.

well, definitely, give a lot of rest to that hand, u should not think abt lifting stuffs---u R NOT letting the wound to get heeled!!! Try to take rest and have enough sleep at night, take nutritious foods, (I could've prescribed(!) u some basic medicines but I find it some what dangerous)

What did you fall on the first time? Or rather, where on the arm/hand?

Bone that comes out when you make a fist? The only thing that comes to mind are the metacarpophalangeal joints and the ligament there, but those aren't bones...

They can be broken/sprained, however. It sounds like it might be a minor sprain, in which case ice/heat it (depends on you) and try to keep it immobile (but NOT tense). If it really hurts, see your doctor.

I fell on the gym floor and hit my hand really hard on the floor on the top I think. I don't really remember that wekk,

The bone or whatever that I was talking about is the long one that on your arm. It starts at the bottom of your hand and when you make a fist it sticks out.

My mom said if it's not better by tomorrow she'll take me to he doctor. Should I keep the gaus on at night?

First of all, gauze is used to soak up blood. If you didn't cut your hand, you don't need gauze. Try an ACE wrap and wrap it somewhat tight, but not so tight that it cuts off circulation. This will help to prevent swelling. Also, continue icing your hand for 15-20 and then waiting at least 45 minutes. Wrap it in between ice. Finally, DO NOT HEAT!!! Heat can actually cause it to swell more.

If it continues to hurt, I'd see a doctor. There's a chance you might have fractured something. The bones in your hand aren't that hard to fracture.

My .02 and no I'm not a doctor wannabe either; I'm going into Athletic Training :)

Oh, that. I thought you were talking about a bone in your hand. So, the ulna?

Gauze is unnecessary. Heating CAN help alleviate the pain - if it is not swelling, which you didn't note. Is it swelling? It sounds like it is simply aching. If so, don't wrap (no need to cause unnecessary irritation, not to mention that a lot of people screw up when putting one on) - just keep it as immobile as the situation allows. In fact, that's probably the only general advice that you should definitely follow.

And see, this is why you should consult someone in person...

It's not even gauze, it just looks like i tbut it's a little darker and is more like a cloth material. I just couldn't think of the word for it.

I've been putting ice on it and stuff. It's only a little swollen now.
