I got my letter from the state today (Ohio)! $1000 renewable over four years.
I'm sooo happy :)

still waiting for districts. Who else is?

congrats country crazy! thats awesome

me....ugh....what state are you in encerwal? I can't believe we haven't been notified about districts yet.

I'm in the same predicament. I heard from my lodge, but I've got nothing since then.

Anybody in Texas heard from local, district or state?

I got my state letter today! I'm one of 26 ppl in NY who went on to nationals!!! It doesn't say anything about money though, but it says I'm one of the 500 nat'l finalists, so I'm assuming I get $1000? I'm so happy.

Btw, I never heard back from districts, so if you havent yet, it may not mean anything.

Hey congrats! That's comforting to hear....I'm hoping for the best...good luck all of you!

Hi all,

I just thought I'd let everyone know how the process worked for me in San Diego, CA.

I dropped my application off at the lodge on the due date (Jan. 14, I believe). A letter arrived in the first week of February (dated February 1) from the district saying that me application was being passed to "the next plateau of judging" (whatever that means).

In mid-February, someone from the lodge called me to say that I placed 1st at the lodge level and was being awarded $1000 from the lodge. He also stated that I had "placed" at the district level, but that he did not know any additional details.

On March 3, I was contacted again by the same person from the lodge. This time he said I had placed second at the district and had advanced to the state competition. He also said that the district would give me $400. In addition, he told me that the state had forwarded my application to the national level and that I had been awarded one of the 500 national $1000 renewable awards by the state. He said that national will now take the 500 state winners and pick the 6 big winners by mid-May.

I am obviously very happy and wish the best of luck to the rest of you. For those of you that haven't heard back in the mail--don't worry just yet. The gentleman from the lodge said that California's letters will be sent to most applicannts around March 15 (I'd imagine many other states operate in a similar manner).

Anyone in Texas hear anything at all, at any level?

yep. i'm from tx and i heard from my lodge at around the end of february saying i advanced.

Yippie! heard from the state people finally! I get $1000!

So happy!

congrats! I'm still waiting, but I assume I'll find out any day now.

repeat post removed.

cm'on people, where's my letter?

Nothing in Texas yet . S hasn't heard anything after submitting the application in Jan.

woohoo, i jus recieved another letter from local lodge giving me 1500 for first place on top of the 800 from the state for reaching it that far :(

well thats the end of my ride for the elks, good luck to the rest of you. i better get started on some other scholarships

I just received a letter from the Michigan Chairman of the scholarship, telling me I made it to the Nat'l level. I had a couple of questions and called him; he said that I was one of the top 500, and was guaranteed at least the $1000 scholarship.

Apparently I didn't make it to the nationals, but I am being considered for a $1000 scholarship through NY state. Hopefully I can get it considering how much time I spent on the application, it would help out a lot.

They mentioned something about how if you were eliminated your application would be returned to you. . . . .I haven't gotten anything back so I assume I'm still being considered.

I got the application back from the state people, apparently I get $1000 from VA Elks, but dont advance to nationals
