Are you going to weekend at the Mecca? I applied to Spelman, but they are a little stingy with financial aid. But its cool, dirty south represent.

Yes Ma'am, I'll definitely be in DC for the "Week end". Maybe you and I can get to know each other a little better before we meet over there.
By the way, I'm sure you're more than qualified, but are you in the honors program? Im not 100% sure if you're accepted into the program upon entrance into the University, or if you have to apply when you get in.

Is this by invitation only b/c I didnt get one? What is everyone's major and what are the requirements for the honors program?

Yeah, you have to have a 1300 SAT or higher, or be a National Achievement Semifinalist/Finalist. I'm not sure about the honors program, so I was hoping to find out when I go up there. Have any of y'all seen Howard's campus yet?

Yeah I've visited the campus, my dad works at Clark Atlanta University, so the whole HBCU feel is second nature to me, and I'm quite comfortable with Howard. The surrounding areas, as is the case with most HBCU's, are kind of rough around the edges, Georgia Ave is no exception.

Oye, threepointnineseven, email me. You know who I am ;) I lost your email address.

hey you guys... i applied to howard and i'm sort of worried about the area. i've heard it can be tough, and i'll admit i can get a little shy around areas that i'm not comfortable in... i wanted to know if you guys had any opinions about how bad the area really is. how is the school itself? do people tend to be riding high horses or are they really down to earth? i don't know if i want to go to an HBCU yet... thats to be determined, but i heard it's a good school, soo... any opinions. how do you like it? what do u like/hate? thanx u guys

The areas a little rough, but its a very metro area. I walked through the streets and I didn't get muuged or robbed. Believe me, it's not as bad as they make it out to be, but its not the suburbs either. You just have to use common sense and you'll be alright. The campus is very nice, its not the Four Seasons, but its a place you can definitely spend four years. Everyone is really nice, that's what drew me to the university. There's such a family atmosphere. However, it is the second most fashionable university, so alot of people think that the people there are kinda stuck-up and superficial, but from the people I met they were extremely nice. I HATE the administration. They have a tendency to "misplace" things and give you the runaround. But all and all, I think its an awesome university and I think you should go visit to see the vibe you get when you visit.

i will be transferrin to HU for the summer and continuing on to the fall. Anybody got any more insight on the school? my major will be journalism

Yeah...GO HU!!!!!!!!!lol you will do great at howard and do well in life. its a great school for great people....hope to see you on campus in August......Ill be a the preview day on the 22nd.
