<p>I will be transferring this fall majoring in management science.
Well, I read their GE requirement and it says the transfer students need '2 four-unit upper-division courses outside your major field of study, including one upper division writing-intensive course.'</p>
<p>One of them being upper division writing class(english class), I tried to find the courses that I can take, but there isn't much information about that course. Does anyone know what I should take for upper division writing course? </p>
<p>Also, are those GE requirements for transfer students should be met in first quarter or first year of UCSD?</p>
<p>One more question.. is taking four classes, one including MATH 20F(Linear Algebra), (and one other will probably be upper division writing class), in my first quarter of UCSD gonna be hard to get good grade? or that's what everyone else is taking?..</p>

now to answer your question,
if you go to <a href=“https://aventeur.ucsd.edu/students/vac/[/url]”>https://aventeur.ucsd.edu/students/vac/</a> you can find a list of upper division classes that will satisfy the significant writing requirement for marshall students. you’ll first have to sign in w/ your UCSD pID, and then you should see “TMC GEs” in the left column and click on “Sig. Writing List '11-'12” which will then lead you to a page that lists all of the courses you can take.
i don’t think it matters when you complete the GE requirement, but you do need to finish them by the time you graduate (obviously). it’s probably helpful to get them out of the way in the beginning though, so that you can focus on your major classes.
taking 4 classes during one quarter shouldn’t be too bad (from what i’ve experienced, most people take around 4 classes/16 units). math 20f is very straight forward and in my opinion, the easiest out of the 20 series so as long as you stay on top of it, you should be fine.
also, i believe you can take your GEs for pass/no pass credit as long as you don’t need it for your major so that can definitely help reduce stress.</p>
