Paper work (Rumor has it) - We might not be participating next year unfortunately.
Honestly (and sorry for my rant), that’s crazy. You should get a few people and petition to participate in FIRST next year. I mean, no one should have the right to deny an amazing hands-on experience like this.
Because robotics is awesome!
I definitely agree with you, pal!
Bumping this thread again.
Bumpity bumpity bump :stuckouttongue:
Bump.
.
So, um, anyone going to world champs?
Nah, we were 7 places away from getting in. Its ok tho, we wouldn’t have had enough money anyway… we didn’t even budget for districts
@snowfairy137 Aww, I’m sorry. Next time
Yes. I’ve tried to get to first worlds for 5 years now… But in these next 3 years my team actually has a very good chance of making it.
Well, good luck in the years to come!
It may be too early to talk about this, but what do you think the next game will be?
No idea… I hope its easier to make sound interesting than “um yeah, our robot stacks crates… And garabage cans… And uh pool noodles”
The standard reply to that question is “Water game!” The standard response to that is, “No, that’ll never work. Who wants to watch a bunch of shorted out robots just sit/float there?”
Plus can you imagine if the tank leaked? Omg.
Although FIRST did sponsor a movie, Underwater Dreams, that was a true about a group of kids who built a swimming robot that MIT in some sort of robotics competition… So I guess it is possible. Unfortunately, I didn’t go see the movie so I don’t know the exact details but yeah.
Welp. 7 teams dropped. We can go to worlds if we can come up with $5000 in the next 24 hours, which is pretty much impossible. So close yet so far
Social media campaign? Do you have to write the check in 24 hours or know you can come up with it?
Write the check.
And that wouldn’t be including travel costs we would have to come up with after that.
So, I have a question… (questions actually) for you all. What are some of the ways your team fundraises? How do you maintain good contact with you sponsors? Are there any interesting ways your team finds new sponsors?
@snowfairy137 I hope you can make it to worlds!
One tip that’s been really helpful for my team is that you really have to expose your team to the community and spread the message of FIRST and STEM education. For example, we’re hosting a community barbecue next week, and we’ve earned around $2000 from that already–and it hasn’t even happened yet!
In regards to obtaining sponsors, you really have to network with others. I mean, seriously SELL your team to them and explain the benefits they get from sponsoring your team.
