MYP (Middle Years Program) is exactly that- a pre-IB
But it's not necessary to do IB, it just gets you ready for the workload and whatnot

My state doesn't have many IB schools, so I learn everything about it on CC. Do most IB schools offer Pre-IB stuff? Because almost no AP schools in my state offer Pre-AP classes that I know of, even though there is such a thing.
How much work do you have in your MYP classes?

what is IB?

IB Diploma Programme - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pretty much an international AP program. And if someone asks which one is better/tells which one they think is better... I'm going to have to shoot them.

As far as I know, If a school offers IB then it probably offers MYP. But then again, it depends on the school district because MYP begins in 6th grade.
MYP is really a step above Honors, in that you're asked to apply what you learn to the world around you. In my school, they mix some of the Honors and the MYP classes so if the class, for example, had to write an essay on the themes of Romeo and Juliet, the MYP kids would have to do this in addition to relating the themes to the "five areas of interaction" which the whole IB program is centered around.

Hope that all makes sense...

Without getting adversarial, that really depends on the school. At my school, we only offer honors classes, and I know our honors is above the other school's honors (in my county). We always have driving questions so we would write that essay about Romeo and Juliet, then add what we can tell about the world now, people in general, and the differences and similarities between Romeo and Juliet's world and today's. (At least)
I'm typing faster than my computer is processing my key-presses and that is really annoying me. -_- I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut this reply short.

Good point. Most of what I said pertained to my school and could be different elsewhere. I guess the real driving point for MYP is the '5 Areas of Interaction'. Not to mention the required community service and the Personal Project that must be done by the end of tenth grade.

Well we don't have any required community service (as with the diploma) but many of us do a heck of a lot of it. At my school we must have 15 credit hours of college classes and an internship, plus we have a project every year that's supposed to span about 6 months.

Now where did the rest of the freshman go? And I'm about to kill this laptop if it doesn't speed up.

were just watching you guys talk about your hard ass classes

Younginvestor, I don't believe that you ever posted your classes.... and the other information you requested.

elikplim93- What are your ECs?

I'm about to restart my computer. -_- BRB

Wait, I found it.

Pretty pitiful, huh?

skipped it...its the first year they did this thing where if you get over 95 percentile on the english testing for our state tests you can skip english 9

You have to realize that your average student is not a CCer and so you shouldn't feel really bad about what you are or aren't doing in comparison.
You have to find things you are interested in and do things that make you stand out.

I wish we had that. -_- I had over the 95th percentile ... in everything.

I've been thinking hard about my classes next year, I think I've decide on the ones I'll request:
AP Psych (Year-long) online
AP Calculus BC (Year-long) online
AP Computer Science AB (Year-long) online
AP Gov (Year-long) online

Biology Dual-enrollment

French lab Dual-enrollment

would i qualify as a CCer?

Everyone here is a CCer... however it's kinda a joke among some people.

"Your 'typical' CCer has 20 AP classes and is curing cancer."

i have a close friend who was in MYP from 6th to 8th grade. i had a normal "honors" middle school courseload and we had very similar coursework. she had to do a lot of ******** stuff though like relating EVERYTHING she did to the "areas of interaction" or whatever haha. i'm not against IB, but i have to say that MYP isn't anything special. there's a continuation of MYP for K through 5th, too. the pre-IB courses i'm in right now are basically just like honors.
