If there is, talk about your first year of high school, what your doing to prepare for college, your interestes, and your extracurriculars here!

To prepare for college, I plan to stop mak1ng typos.

My extracurriculars include being president of every single club in my school.

Ahh freshman year.. I am not a freshman but freshman - take advantage of things right now before its too late and so you will feel a lot more relaxed later on.

I am a freshman and I have hated this year so I am going to boarding school next year(YAY). I have already been looking at colleges including Reed College, MIT, Whitman, among others. I've gotten pretty good grades and plan to get honors in Math and Language Arts (Honors is not a different class at my school, it is just extra work.) I am an utter and complete faliure at Spanish, which is by FAR my worst subject. I am in an African Dance company and play Softball, which are probably my top EC's...

Freshman, enjoy your youth before you learn about the cruel, cruel world of college admissions.

why did you hate your year so much?

im a freshman. i love freshman yearr.

I've had a very stressful Freshman year, and I struggled 1st semester. However, now I'm really enjoying it, and I have all A's. (Except I think I had a Final grade of a 92 in Algebra II because my mom had a mini-stroke when I was really behind and I had to do 80% of the course in 3 days.) I have 5 honors classes (AB schedule) 1 online Honors class (1 semester) and 1 online AP class (year-long).
I'd like to know what kinds of courses you other guys have. Here's mine:

1st Semester:
Honors World History
Honors English
Honors Writing
Honors Engineering
Honors Apps of Science
Algebra II online Standard (Not offered honors)
APAH

2nd Semester:
Honors World History
Honors English
Honors Writing
Honors Engineering
Honors Apps of Science
Honors Pre-cal
APAH

EC's and awards ect.:

1Captain and founder Science Olympiad chapter
2.Member Strategic boards club
3.Member Christian fellowship
4.Advisory member of Art Club
5.Black belt Tae Kwon Do
6.Mayor's youth council school representative
7.Church Youth group member
8.Church Handbell choir
9.School science fair representative
10.County Science fair: Technology 1st place

13.Front page of local paper in conjunction with school opening
14. Varsity Golf
15. School-wide student of the month
16. Youth Legislative Assembly Delegate on the Substance abuse committee

I'm currently waiting to see if I placed in anything in our recent Science Olympiad competition.

I'm currently looking at UNC-CH (like quadruple legacy and related to first student), Duke (Legacy), MIT, Harvard, and Stanford.
I'm still not sure what I'd like to do.

algiqinf, im sorry but thats ridiculous. you should get off here and stop showing off and get a life.

I'm a freshman, and found the workload to be easier than I expected
I'm in the MYP program, I'm pan on doing the IB program junior year.
Ha, I thought I was the only freshman prematurely thinking about college =)

Here are the classes I'm taking this year

MYP Honors American Civics 1st sem, MYP Honors World Geography 2nd sem.

Honestly, it is ridiculous. But I do have a life, it just happens that I have to stay up pretty late to afford one. LOL Do I qualify as a sterotypical CCer? Or am I not quite there yet? I mean, I only have 1 AP course. Most freshmen, including me, our worried about if we are doing enough and scared about this whole college thing. It's only fair that everyone participates, and keeps in mind that most of the bell curve is not only CC. What you really don't want to know about is what I currently am trying to add to my activities.

I just looked up MYP... is that near the same as Pre-IB?
It's great you are thinking ahead early too.

wow do you guys go to private schools? At our school you can't even take an AP class til sophomore year and thats w/ pre requistites that you have to take starting in 6th grade...the classes i have taken this year are gym, health (required), history 9, english 10, geometry honors, biology 1, spanish 2, marketing & sales, and intro to business and marketing...the only ones i got to chose were spanish, marketing and sales and the intro to business and marketing class

Don't worry about college yet. Just keep your grades up because while it's the easiest year, it usually kills most cumulative gpa's.

I'm a freshman! Yay! :) Hah.
My class schedule for this year is:
Honors English
Spanish II
Biology
Geometry
Theatre I
Cross Country/Track PE

I took Health/World History (semester long required courses) in summer school.

I'm glad there are other freshman out there that are "crazy" too!

Lol... my brother is a freshman and all he does is play video games all day.

Come back when you reach puberty.

kthnksbye

i'm a freshman.

biggest hook: my old account had over 2000 posts ^_^ .. just kiddin. i have a 3.9 in really hard courses and i spend about 30 hrs a week on stereotypical-ish extra curriculars. i don't have many awards. i'm not really interested in top colleges though, i'd rather do dual enrollment at UMN in 11th and 12th grade then transfer to Michigan. most people realize that prestige doesn't really matter and that making tons of money doesn't really matter.. but some never do, and i guess that's who goes to Harvard :P

good luck my fellow competitors of '11

I'll reword that. Come back when ******** isn't flying out of your mouth.

word from the not-so-wise. there are 2 things i regret about freshman year: one, i didnt take it seriously. that doesnt mean that i did bad. i got like a 91 avg. but i have a 96 average this year, and if i took full advantage of freshman year, i would have like a 94 or higher average instead of a 93. since i also barely studied freshman year (i mean did the absolute minimum. i didnt study for my math midterm and final, got a 96 on each :P ), sophmore year when i actually tried to get serious with my schoolwork, it was harder cuz that year i took off i didn't really know how to study.

the 2nd thing i regret: not joining a sports team. i was considering joining the volleyball team since practically every freshman made the team, but for some reason, i didnt because i "didn't feel like it". not only would have joining the team look good on college apps, but i also would have made so many more friends.

in conclusion, DO NOT WASTE FRESHMAN YEAR
