Any fun/non-prestigious study abroad programs?

I was wondering if anyone knew information about study abroad programs in subjects other than foreign language, like photography, writing, environmental science, or biology. I know there is a National Geographic program where you can go all over the world and do community service or learn about culture or take photography lessons or tour famous sites, but it's really expensive. I was wondering if there were any really cool programs that offered merit scholarships, or at least weren't too pricy. Places I would love to go to: Asia, Europe, Australia, South America.

I'm really stuck on finding these things and I know a lot of these experiential learning programs are just money drainers, so if anyone has any information he or she can provide, I'd greatly appreciate it!

P.S. I'm a rising freshman at Princeton... I'm not sure if they would offer anything like this to incoming students? (This post script is the reason why I can post this in the Princeton thread, lol)

Hi decillion! Lifeworks International is a great program that does offer scholarships based on need. They work with reputable organizations in each country - Duang Prateep Foundation in Thailand, Little Flower Orphanages in China - and it’s hard work but also very rewarding. You do have to deal with cold showers and bugs, but it’s worth it. PM me if you want more info =)

You could have your dream program right on front of you!

Check out the Princeton Bridge Year program–a service learning gap year program sponsored by Princeton University. Princeton’s program is in Africa, India, Eastern Europe, and South America. It is designed for rising freshmen, like you!
