Any furries or chess players at Miami?

My two main interests/communities - competitive chess and the furry fandom - are obviously quite far from the mainstream, and I haven't found a single student at Miami who shares either as of yet. It's a bit of a shot in the dark, but I thought I'd post on here.

Anyone?

Why dont you post on the miami students facebook page? Or talk to your RA about perhaps setting up a chess competition for your dorm.

Here is a link to the chess club roster. It looks as if this hasn’t been updated since the addresses should now end with Miamioh but you may want to change the endings on the email and see if any of these kids are still around. They may know where the chess players are at Miami. Not sure where you would go to find Furry Fandom people. I am not familiar with that creature.

Thanks. I wasn’t aware the chess club was still active. Where is the facebook group you’re talking about?

It does appear that the list of players is quite outdated, though.

Search for Miami class of 2017. I know there was one when my kids started two years ago. My son is also a computer science major.

I e-mailed some people on that list you gave me, and one told me the chess club hasn’t been active in 5 years.

Still looking for people! Hopefully one of them comes across this thread…

I’m a freshman at Miami, but unfortunately I’m neither a chess player nor a member of the furry fandom. However, have you thought about rebooting the chess club on your own? It would look great on a resume - I went to a presentation by one of the professors from the Farmer School of Business and he described one girl who basically saved Miami’s equestrian club and that this leadership helped her land a great job after graduation.

I have thought about it, yes, but is it typical for a freshman to do something like that? Also, wouldn’t I need to at least find other chess players here to form a club? I’m still trying to get adjusted to living at college and keeping up with my classes, but when I get some spare time that is a possibility!
