i live in florida...

GPA: 3.3-3.4 unweighted i believe, somewhere around 3.7-8 weighted probably (my school doesn't tell us our combined gpa's often, i don't know why)

ACTs: 31 (with writing)

Senior Year Courses:
tv production 7 honors, ap statistics, economics honors, ap us government, anatomy and physiology honors, ap literature and comp, ap psychology

besides that i've mostly been in honors, and i've already taken 5 ap's (human geography (4), environmental science (4), language and comp (5), us history (3), european history (3))

High School Ranking: top 25%

Extracurricular positions:
- vp of television studio (12)
- debate individual events captain (12)

extracurriculars:
- tv studio (9-12)
- debate (11-12)
- french club (11-12)
- community basketball (9-10)
- school and county history fair 2nd place (11)
- county history fair "excellent" rating (9-10)

academic honors:
- national honor society (11-12)
- ap scholar with distinction
- pathfinder scholarship finalist for forensics/speech (its a local scholarship...someone is selected to represent the school for 10 or so different categories...final judging hasn't occured but i was nominated from my school)

essay topic (on common app): this past summer i worked as a sleep-away camp counselor so i wrote about how the experience shaped me and how it helped spark my interest in what i plan to major in (psych) and how the skills i learned will help me in my future.

i know it's getting really late with the college search and my number one is barnard, but i know there are lots of other great colleges out there, i was wondering if anyone could recommend some for me? i'm very interested in majoring in psych so a strong program is a plus. thanks!

What do you want to do?

You should apply to schools that have programs you want to go to, not just schools that will accept you. I'd be going to Tulane if that were the case.

i'm interested in psychology, either counseling or experimental. but i'm also interested in a departure from my everyday life, i want to go somewhere that it will be a drastic change (i live in south florida). i don't want to apply to schools just for the heck of it...which is why i made this thread...because i want to see what others think would be good for me.

I don't know very much about Psychology but I think some good schools to look into might be Vassar (near NYC and a small liberal arts school like Barnard), or Skidmore (also in NY), or if you like the west coast I think Lewis & Clark, Reed and Whitman have good psychology departments...

Union (NY), Lawrence (WI) and Franklin & Marshall (PA) may be worth a look. All are very good schools. Good luck!

thank you for all of your opinions!

really random, but wow we have alot in common. i live in broward. and go to sleepaway camp. haha. which camp were you a counselor at?

it was called camp pocono trails, it's in pennsylvania in the poconos, about 30 mins or so from allentown (that's where i had to fly into). and what do we have in common? like grades, major, etc?
