I'm in a focus so 2.5 credits are taken, I'm also taking calc and a half credit elective leaving me at 4 credits. I feel like I'm not getting enough done only doing 4 credits but I don't want to be overwhelmed my first semester either. Any suggestions?

I don't just want an easy a course, I'd like it to be at least reasonably academic lol

Hate to break it to you, but you actually need another 1.0 credit course. You are expected to enroll in four 1.0 credit courses (see page 3 of the “Learning at Duke” section or page 7 of the “Registration” section of your Blue Book). You have 2 with FOCUS and 1 with calc, but you still need one more.

so that means I can take 5 credits? or would I have to drop my half credit course? thank you!

You have to drop your half-credit course for now. When you get to campus in August you can meet with your academic dean and they can give you permission to go up to 5 credits if you want. I probably wouldn’t recommend an overload unless it’s something easy like a P.E. class though.
