Any help is Greatly Appreciated!

When I started looking at colleges two months ago, I promised myself that I wouldn't worry about actually get into the school and only think about whether or not I'll do well in the school- if I got accepted.

After trotting across the country- Boston, California, Upstate New York, Rhode Island, North Carolina... I found that my top schools were Stanford University and Cornell University.

I have a 95.4 overall average. 93 in freshman year, 95 in sophmore year and a 97 in junior year. I've also taken 2 AP classes so far- English and Chemistry- I will be taking AP English, AP Spanish and AP Calc next year. My SAT score is a 2030- with a 660 in critical reading, 670 in writing and a 700 in maths. I took the Chemistry SAT II at the end of my sophmore year and ended up with a 680- I plan to take the Math 2C exam this coming October.

I'm very involved in my community and school. As junior chairperson of the Community Service Committe of NHS in my school, I organized a program where students in NHS work with a group of blind people once a month. Next year- I will be the chairperson of the community service committe and I am planning an intense program where the cs group will work in a nursing home, soup kitchen, and the center for the blind.

As the volunteer coordinator for my school's robotics team, I started a program called Robotics 101 that has reached about 5 boy scout/girl scout troops in the surrounding area and two public schools. We will continue with this program- which consists of a presentation where we demo our robot and teach them about the scientific method and how their school can become involved with robotics- next year.

Over the summer, I've traveled to teach English in a Vietnamese orphanage [for 2 weeks]. I also went to the Beijing Language and Culture University [on a scholarship from an asian organization] twice for 5 week language immersion programs. I also attended a biotechnology research camp for a month and researched apoptosis rates in non cancerous cells vs. cancerous cells.. I've started research on pancreatic cells and their dose response to certain proteins in my junior year and will continue with this work. This summer I will be taking a college level class in medical ethics.. and traveling to Costa Rica to do volunteer work with children.

I volunteer at the emergency department at the local hospital. While volunteering there, I helped organize a day to recognize nurses for their work in my area. I'm also a volunteer lifeguard at the swimming school in my neighborhood..

I'm looking for a college that will give me the freedom to explore many fields- and it seems like Stanford and Cornell are two great schools that do that. These schools are also big on research for undergrads- so I'm hoping to get into either.

*Thanks in advance for anyone who's responded/helped! I truly appreciate it.

Well, Stanford and Cornell are reaches for everybody, but I feel that you have very good ECs and have a decent shot. You can always try to boost up your stats (remember that a majority of the other applicants will be at the top of their game). Have you ever tried the ACT?

Good luck! I'm aiming for Stanford too and my stats are somewhat like yours.

you sound like such an interesting person! i think those SAT scores need to go up a bit, but i'd say you have a pretty good shot if you can make good essays out of those experiences.

i'm looking into Cornell too. i suggest CMU and JHU as well if you're into research.

Cornell is possible for u, Stanford not with these stats.

Upstate New York! Woot! :D Burst of state... well... regional anyway pride there. :P
