I took the June ACT and got the following (horrible, I know):

M: 33 (happy with this)
E: 27 (can probably raise)
R: 21 (can't do critical reading on any test for the life of me)
S: 25 (HATE this section)
Essay: 9 (shooting for a 10+)
Composite: 27

So, any hope of going from a 27 to about a 30-32? 30 doesn't put me into the middle 50% at EVERY college I'm applying to, but it does at some of them. However, a 32 will put me in the middle (and above the middle) at some schools.

Yeah, it’s definitely possible if that’s your first time you took it or you have a few months to a year to study.

Unfortunately for you, your 2 worst subjects are the hardest to improve. It’s possible, but very unlikely that you will get a 32 unless you have a good year to spend studying a lot.

Find free prep in the form of library books and internet research. I’ve raised my score to perfect that way. I’m sort of strong-willed though, so if I want something I kind of don’t give up. Good luck!

If you care that much about your ACT score:
-read A LOT. Don’t just read, re-read. Don’t just read fiction. Read nonfiction, essays, articles, plays, poems, etc. Pay attention to every word and detail. Look up words you don’t know.
-get a strategy for science. I assume you have trouble with speed comprehension. If this is the case, don’t read the opening paragraphs. Just read the questions and find the answers. If you are doing this already, you are in somewhat more trouble. Maybe a tutor can help.
-learn grammar. Just a few simple rules, drilled into your mind, will raise your writing score a few points. And reading a lot of shortish essays will also help with the rhetoric questions.

i went from 27 to 32 in two months. did two practice tests. then went to 33 next time. its all ******** man. just figure out how to pace urself and you’ll do awesome
