Are you hoping for coach support?
ANY particular part of the country?
Size of school? Urban? Rural? Greek life or sports important?

Finance is not offered at many LACS although almost all have placements into the financial industry. If you are looking for a business major, there are many options. Pretty much every school has government or political science. Schools in DC make it easier to get government internships. Schools like Northeastern and Drexel has great coop programs if you want to mix practical experience into your education.

You have not given us enough info to be helpful.

Amherst, Bowdoin, Hamilton, Trinity (CT), Kenyon and Claremont McKenna would be examples of colleges that would be strong for public policy and government studies.

Hey thanks for your responses. I’d like east coast and any size school is fine. Internships are very important to me as well.

On more thing, I like urban but could go for rural. Also here is my current list of schools I am looking into
Washington and Lee
Georgetown
Babson College
Bowdoin
North Carolina
Cornell

Of those choices, Cornell and Babson might be the strongest for finance specifically.

In terms of internship opportunities, Hamilton offers a well regarded semester long program in DC:

Apple23- thanks for that information! I did not know much about Hamilton before, but I’ll research it now.

Though not an East Coast school, you could also look into Kenyon, which offers a public policy center on campus:

In addition, their tennis programs are particularly strong, and could be a draw by themselves for an accomplished player:

@apple23 Thanks for the recommendation! My uncle is actually a professor at Kenyon. I agree with you, they have an excellent tennis program. I would certainly play for their team if I went there.

For a view through economics programs, which may offer courses in topics such as corporate finance, financial economics and international finance, this analysis based on faculty scholarship in the field can be useful:

I am surprised to see Williams at number one… I’ll keep that in mind @merc81

Look at UChicago. It is top tier for econ, is recruited by Wall Street, and college students can take finance courses in the graduate school of business which is top 3 in the nation.

Chicago is excellent at political science as well, and now David Axelrod’s Institute of Politics is right on campus providing hundreds of unique internship opportunities for those who are interested in that field.

It is really hard to get accepted to UChicago, but if you are a nationally ranked tennis player, that can be a huge hook for admissions.

@ThankYouforHelp Wow! Chicago is for sure an excellent school but I wasn’t aware of their finance and political programs. I will also mention that I could start for any D3 school for tennis. But at schools like Georgetown
, is more likely have to walk on.

I also don’t need a school with a finance major, an Economics degree from a top LAC can put on track for a good financial job.

Fordham/Gabelli gives you access to the NYC financial world for internships. Davidson is a liberal arts college with a strong placement record in the financial world. It is a liberal arts college near Charlotte, the second-largest banking center in the country now. Davidson has very loyal alumni/ae, and a powerful "Old-Boy Network.

@woogzmama I did not know all of that about Davidson. Thanks!

Note, however, that Williams maintains a graduate program in development economics, which might inflate their standing (link, #10) in comparison to LACs without graduate departments, @Firewoksworld.

@merc81 Ok! I was surprised to see Williams at 1. Thanks for the explanation.

@Firewoksworld, take the Idea.respc.org ranking with a grain of salt.
