This probably isn't the answer you're looking for, but I think that you shouldn't try to look for ec's solely on the basis that they be "unique" or "special." I think that you should simply do what interests you, even if you think it might not seem interesting to someone else. When you go to write essays about what ec you were most involved in or whatever, your passion for the subject will make it seem "special," even if it seems like your generic math club or something. Anyways, that's my 2¢.

There are plenty of things you can do related to science and math. Do some scientific research (not as hard as it sounds), enter a science fair, etc. I for one had a summer internship where I taught lower class middle schoolers basic physics in a summer camp/summer school setting. It was quite fun and I'm doing it again next year, but hopefully I'll be teaching chem.

Yeah so, look around. Find the things that interest you and you'll realize that there are plenty of ECs to do

this summer i really hope to find "appealing" ec's to do that still relate to my passion for math/science/business. I'm going to do this 2 week summer program in maryland. I'm really interested doing "research"...but I don't know where I would be able to do it. There is this one place called Jisan (www.jisan.org) but they charge 350 a month. They do lotta programming and science stuff but also slack off a bit as i hear from my friends. Aside from the the quality of the research, do you think it'll be worth 350 monthly to do research (6 hours a week total) for college?

side note: Colleges will offer interesting stuff to do right? (i'm in los angeles county)

well, I have a similar problem at my school...I don't have many national organizations for 1, so here is what I plan on doing

4 hours community service a week
Join all honorary clubs possible (currently Spanish, after next year math and science, many of these are national clubs)
Join a few regular school clubs (Spanish, Speech and Debate)
If interested, Join DECA, I probably won't, but most schools have it

Hmmmm... I really have enjoyed the student council stuff at the state and county level. I started with school SGA, but found it too petty and unorganized...

My sector of the state student council prepares presentations and motivational talks to present to other high/middle schools. There's only like 8 of us and I've gotten to know the people very well- through this I've met bunches of people from other schools that I would never have met without this activity.
