I was just wondering if people had any advice on how to get off the waitlist at a really selective school. I think the trend has been from either 10 kids to 100 kids. I just want to know if anyone knows what the kids who DO get off the waitlists do?
What do i need to write in my letter of continued interest?
Do i mention my grades and how I have kept them up… idk any advice would be super helpful!
I know the chances of me getting in off a waitlist are really slim, so don’t worry about telling me that because I have already committed to another good college, but this one means a lot to me (as it does to others on the waitlist I’m sure).
but just any ideas? I did win an outside scholarship a month ago (20k per year)…
And, thank you all for your help!
bump…
A letter of continued interest can’t hurt…but realize that at this point it’s not about you; it’s simply a math problem for the college.
For example if the college is targeting an enrolled class of 600 and admitted 1200, they won’t know if they need to use the waitlist or not until 1 May when decisions are due. If 610 committed, then no waitlist spots will be accepted. If 590 committed, then 10 lucky waitlist applicants will be accepted.
Sending a letter may help you be one of the 10, but it only helps if the college needs to use the waitlist.
Good luck!
