LOCI Etiquette?

So I’ve seen a lot of threads about letters of continued interest. I’ve applied to a lot of competitive schools, so I know I’m going to be getting many rejections come the end of this month. I was wanting to send in a letter in February detailing what I’d been doing, and in essence begging adcoms to consider me lol but when I asked my GC on her thoughts, she pretty much said not to, so I didn’t. But when decisions come out, would it be in order to send in a letter only if I were waitlisted? Or is this only a good idea for students who had been deferred in early rounds?

Thank you!

A letter of continued interest does no harm if you are waitlisted. It probably also doesn’t do much good-- in the sense that for most very competitive schools, the number that come off the waitlist is very small. The best advice is to assume that you will be going to one of the schools you are accepted to and move on emotionally.

thank you!
