I'm a MIMG major and I'm highly considering taking LS 4 during the summer. Do you think this is a good idea? Is it do-able? Can I do well in it provided that I am not used to the competitive atmosphere?

I think as a community college we may need a real 10 week quarter to adjust ourselves.
What do you think?
OR

Should I do the AAP transfer summer program instead?

What is MIMG? What is LS?

I’m not a mimg major, but I opted for summer session instead of the transfer summer program just because I can get an additional 2 upper division courses out of the way, instead of just 1. If you’re not pressed for time to graduate, than the transfer summer program might be good?

mimg: microbiology immunology molecular genetics

ls: life science

Taking 1 class over 5 weeks is not too difficult.

@itransfer:

true, however this is a life science class known to be really difficult

But you are concentrating only one course. Your mind only has to focus on one topic. I would take 1 science course over 5 weeks then another science course over the next 5 weeks rather than take both at the same time over 10 weeks.

Over 10 weeks you probably have to take the midterms and finals at the same time.

The only course I wouldn’t recommend you take over 5 weeks would be biochemistry. Just because the amount of memorization you have to do in that class. Learning the metabolic pathways with the right structures, name, and stereochemistry takes a lot of time.
