Any info on Northeastern?

I visited campus and really liked what I saw. I'm from New York City so a city atmosphere would fit me better. I just wanted to know if any of you went there what it's like so far? What's campus life like? What are students like there? Anyone familiar with Boston what's the city like? Is there any train that would transport you from Boston to NYC out of curiousity?
Any kind of info on the school helps.

why not just use the chinatown busses? like 20 bucks round trip.

Never heard of that kind of bus service. Where would I go to (or who would I go to) find out about it or request their service? The reason I asked by the way is because I know that by car it's normally taken like 3-4 hours to get there. I have familly that live about 30 minutes north of Boston so I was wondering if there was a way via train.

There is a fast train that goes from Boston's South Station to Penn Station in New York. Click here for schedules:

i would love to go to northeastern....wait northeastern? i mean northwestern...oh sorry :X

dontt use the china town buses(The drivers drive crazy) my sister took it home a couple of times its cheap but its freaky but its easy to get tickets

JetBlue flies NY-Boston, $40 special now.

Thanks for the tip on the china buses. I mean I'd be interested in a quick way to get home but safely. As for the fast train, this is interesting because it still takes 3-4 hrs just as it would by car and yet it still costs more than what it would cost me to ride on one of the independent bus services that go from Boston to NYC. It's definitely something that I can look at though in the future, because I can only imagine that the ride would be much more comfortable even though it would cost a bit more.
And as for JetBlue, do they have this kind of offer throughout the year or is this like a one time thing? Because I know that I've been to Burlington, Vermont on JetBlue and the ride was a little less than an hr. It would have to be like 30-40 minutes on the air?

Yup, Boston to NYC by air is forty minutes. But you would need to factor in the time that it takes to get to and from the airport. This adds another hour to the trip. So the trip would about 1 hour and forty minutes door to door (still not bad). The ride on "fast train" is unsually long because some the tracks along the route are not built for high speed (the train really slows down when you get to Conn). The condition of the tracks is kind of lame when you consider that the Acela train is capable of speeds up to 130+ miles per hour. But at least the trains are comfortable. The Business class section has outlets for lap tops and there is a dinning car. Oh yeah, the cool thing about Northeastern is that you could do all your co-ops in NYC. So you could basically spend half of your undergraduate career in Boston and the other in the Big Apple. That's a sweet deal. I think that Northeastern even has housing in NYC for students who are interning there.

EDIT: Northeastern does have housing in NYC:

Depending on where your family lives north of Boston, there should be either the commuter rail from North Station or the commuter busses. Check out www.mbta.com and you'll discover how to get wherever you're going in Massachusetts.

we took the bus from ny to dc, it was faster than flying by the time you figure in getting to the airport, checking in, security, etc., and most airlines want at least 45 min, and waaaayy cheaper

the trains can be expensive, and while may save some time, you have to figure if its worth it

$20 dollar bus ride, 100 train trip

And Logan Airport is no bargain.

That's pretty cool. The co-op is what really attracted me to Northeastern to begin with. I didn't realize they had housing in NYC. Makes things a bit more interesting as it gives me more options of where to stay if whatever reason I can't stay in my current family apartment. Thanks for the link. Also thanks for the clear up on why the trains took so long.

It seems to me that Boston has a lot of options for traveling from and to NYC.

Thanks for the info so far.

Here's one current student's view of Northeastern:
